Miracles are a display of the supernatural.
I. The reason for this miracle:
A. On the human side to meet a real need.
1. Jesus initially showed some reluctance to help out:
Your concern and Mine are not the same.
He deferred to the Fathers will: He did not come
to earth to do the bidding of people.
2. Jesus performed a miracle that produced a superior
product.
B. On the divine side to reveal who Jesus was.
1. Though this was meant to manifest who He was,
yet Jesus kept in the background.
God arranged means (ie., miracles) for people to
see Jesus for who He really was.
2. A sign means something; there is significance
behind this first miracle.
II. The results of this first miracle:
A. Gods stamp was on Him.
B. His disciples believed in Him.
Miracles are not primarily meant to meet human need;
they are meant to turn our eyes to God.
The sign of wine: salvation.
Miracles are meant to attract attention: God at work in our lives.
"We know that you are a person changed by God, for one one can
naturally act like this unless God is with him.
