interview where we would learn more about Jurina but wasnt exactly that.
Nope.
Rather, it feels like the magazine, Bubka, let the biggest Juriwota in their reda
ction wrote those 2 pages where he explains how he became a fan and why others s
hould too.
First thing to know, its that Bubka is quite a cheap magazine which specializes i
n scandals and which lately has been focusing on AKB and sister groups. Still,
this article points at some interesting facts and at the very least, gives an in
sight on how fans who have been around for several years perceived Jurina when s
he appeared out of nowhere to claim AKBs center position.
Too new in the fandom to have a clear view on the current situation, I will let
people judge if they agree on points like 3 years later, Jurina is still treated
like a transfer student (among AKB) or if there is, as this redactor claims, two
distinct Jurinas : the AKBs Jurinaand the SKEs Jurina.

Even though her activities arent limited to Nagoya,the sad truth is that there are
still lots of people who dont perceive Matsui Jurinas charm. This corner is for t
hose who like AKB but whore not really into Jurina. I want and I wish those peopl
e will read this article.
As you may already know, Matsui Jurina ranked 10 last year during general electi
ons but dropped a few ranks this year to claim the 14th position. If youre a regu
lar reader of this magazine, youre aware that she is SKE48 central pillar. 3 year
s ago, while she was still on her 6th year of elementary school she was selected
to be the center of AKB single Oogoe Diamond, since that day she became a core me
mber of both AKB and SKE. Last year [] while Rena ranked 11th and Jurina 10th, sh
e could keep the facade up. This year however, this super-natural mask has been
shattered into pieces. Its to say that once the general elections ceremony was o
ver and she had left the stage, Jurina cried out loud for a while.
Thats a serious affair. Jurina isnt correctly perceived. Not only that, but I have
the feeling a lot of people positively refuse to know about her. Those are anti s
o to speak. There is a need to disentangle those antis hearts and win over the b
eginners who dont show interest in SKE yet. If we dont take the initiative, someth
ing terrible could well be happening in the future.
Matsui Jurina has two facets, Matsui Jurina from AKB48 and Matsui Jurina from SKE48.
Essence of the Jurina allergy
Let me explain. Its about Matsui Jurina as she stands into AKB. Or rather as she
has been made to stand into AKB selection (TL : selection = senbatsu). 3 years a
go, despite being the youngest member she became AKB center, which threw everyon
e into bewilderment. I heard she even experienced treatment close to bullying at
that time. For a while, I closed my heart to her too. But it wasnt that young gi
rl fault, it was the fierce push she received from the management which created
antis.
From AKB point of view, its understandable that a form of allergy appeared. How c
ould it be otherwise? With Jurina joining like this, there was a risk for a memb
er you supported to drop from the selection. And anyway, who the hell was that M
atsui Jurina?

This way of thinking was unavoidable.

Even now, the symptoms of the allergy which broke down at the time persist. This
redaction had a quite similar reaction back then. It wasnt so much about liking
or hating her, rather we didnt know what kind of young girl we were dealing with

Watching a shrinking 6th grader being thrown into AKB center position, everyone
ought to have some reserve.
But this was only true for Matsui Jurina as she stand in AKB. This magazine got
to learn about the Matsui Jurina standing in SKE. Back then, I had heard rumors
saying SKE S stage was terrible, so that with reluctance that I finally flew to
Nagoya.
The Matsui Jurina I found in Sunshine Sakae was a completely different person fo
r the AKBs Matsui Jurina. How could she be so different? Why didnt I noticed her ear
lier? But since that day, watching her from both AKB and SKE point of view, Ive b
een able to double my enjoyment.
Matsui Jurina had just entered middle school and was already absolutely brillian
t. What I saw that day convinced me it had been the right move to nominate her a
s center. If the title of Ace can only be attributed to those who possess self-c
onsciousness, then Jurina is the ace of aces. (TL : self-consciousness not so mu
ch of her weakness but rather of her power) She is clearly of another kind that an
yone in AKB. Different from Maeda Atsuko. Different from Ooshima Yuko. Different
from Watanabe Mayu. Nagoyas charisma. Like the overpowered Red Ranger. No matter
where she appears, Jurina catch your eyes. With her intense dancing, keen face,
I saw her resolve to haul fans to Nagoya. I cant forgive those who look down on
SKE. This magazine has been completely captivated by the charm emanating from t
his single girl holding such strong feelings. That, is Jurina as she stands in S
KE. And to that day, it didnt change to the least.
That radiance she only shows in Nagoya
With AKB becoming incredibly popular lately, a lot of people only perceive the s
ituation from AKB point of view. Which is not a bad thing per se. But how come s
ome fans cant accept Jurina? For example, in Majisuka Gakuen 2 she plays a dazzling
character, always on the alert and aiming at becoming center (TL : analogy betw
een MJSK top and real life center). Antis used this role to fuel their hatred toward
Jurina. When in fact, among the singles selected members, she doesnt particularl
y try to stand out . On the contrary, from where I stand it seems that she acts
with restrain, always behaving herself. Even though, since in the fiction she is
depicted as a garish youngster, this false image went out of hand made its way
into peoples mind.
The pupil who transferred from Nagoya 3 years ago is still considered to be a t
ransferred student now.
However, if you go to Nagoya youll see Jurina isnt treated as a transferred studen
t there. As much as she can, Jurina tries to appear on Sakaes stage. She love the
theater stage. Watching her from SKE point of view, one can truly sense how lov
ely/adorable Jurina is. If, following Jurinas lead, all SKE member can claim in u
nison that they Want you to come see us (them) perform, its because they have that
confidence that once youll have seen them on stage, youll become a fan.
But Tokyo and Nagoya are far away. Not physically, but thee is a sizable distanc
e between the hearts in both cities. Compared to her wild enthusiasm when she is
in Nagoya, Jurina doesnt give the same amazing impressing when she is in Tokyo.
In 3 years, this gap didnt disappeared. She has been caught in said gap all this
time.
And thus, the day after the announcement of the general elections results, our m
agazine went to discuss directly the matter with SKE theaters manager. (TL : Yuas
a Hiroshi, aka kuma-san) In order to convey Jurinas magnificence, people must be

given the opportunity to see her performing theater stage. So we proposed that
SKE organizes a periodic Theaters tour. The idea being to present to the audienc
e SKEs Jurina, instead of AKBs Jurina.
Of course, its also important that her image spreads into various media. Exposing
her smile in gravures* will certainly expend her fanbase. And there are also mu
sic shows for single promotions, where she should appear more to allow viewer to
learn about her.
Still, and maybe am I being too simplistic, but the starting point of AKB is in
their theater.
For now, there is no indication if this magazine proposition will be implemented
or not. But we are confident in our suggestions. To fail to properly present to
the public such an amazing talent who only appears once very 10 years would be
similar to a crime. I can not say which fault we would then be charged with were
we to fail in this mission, but there is no mistake, but there is no mistake th
at would be a crime.
Once youll have meet with SKEs Jurina, Im convinced you too will fall for her. At the
very least, youll ceased to be an anti. Until that day, this magazine will maint
ain its campaign.
