both Malayalis as Vishu and Tamilians as Puthandu. -Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is an annual festival observed on 14 April to commemorate the memory of B. R. Ambedkar. It marks Ambedkar's birthday in 1891 and is a public holiday throughout India.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar popularly known as Babasaheb used education as a tool to rise above ordinary and become one of the great leaders of modern India. As jurist, economist, politician and social reformer, his life is an example to all of us. On his 125th birth anniversary today, April 14, we take a look at what we can learn from him.
1.Education is the key to success
Ambedkar was a bright student and did not let anything come in the way of his determination to be educated. He won a scholarship of Rs 25 to Mumbai University, and a state scholarship that enabled him to travel abroad for a post-graduate degree. He studied at the London School of Economics and at Columbia University in the US, emerging with a PhD in Economics. He also served as a defence secretary in the state of Baroda.
His hardwork and determination in gaining education is
the greatest factor that contributed to his intellectual position in the society.
2.Give back to society
Ambedkar used his education to spearhead the cause of equality, fraternity and liberty. Ambedkar's legacy as a socio-political reformer, had a deep effect on modern India. His initiatives have influenced various spheres of life and transformed the way India today looks at socio-economic policies. His reputation as a scholar led to his appointment as free India's first law minister, and chairman of the committee for drafting the constitution. He passionately believed in individual freedom. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the countrys highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.
3 . What We Can Learn From His life
