B2: Ms. Hosen & Mr.Boyd Wexler-Grant School Hours: 7:45 am 2:00 pm WELCOME TO 1st GRADE! September 2016 We would like to welcome you and your child to the 1st grade at Wexler-Grant Community School. A good learning experience is built upon cooperative effort among parent, child, and teacher. This year Mrs. Phipps is excited to be teaching Reading, Writing, and Phonics; and Ms. Hosen is cannot wait to start teaching Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students will begin the day in their assigned homerooms and rotate into the other room after lunch. We look forward to forming a partnership with you and your child to help build a strong academic, social, and emotional foundation. Our expectations for conduct and academic standards are high. With your participation both in and out of the classroom, we can look forward to a productive, creative, and enjoyable year together. Independent: Be kind to your classmates, teachers, and classroom visitors. Dependable: Work hard to do your best every day. Engaged: Listen carefully and follow directions immediately. School Supplies: Throughout the year, we will be completing many projects and assignments that require a number of supplies. These supplies will be shared among the children in the classroom in order to build a sharing and caring community. Please have your child bring in the following supplies to school: 2 heavy poly/plastic folders with pockets (1 green and 1 color of your choice) 1 pack of BLACK Expo dry erase markers (4 thick tips markers) 1 12-oz bottle of Germ-x or Purell hand sanitizer 1 box of tissue **Keep at home for homework: pencils and crayons Please keep in mind that we may request other materials for special projects during the year. If you have any problems finding any of these materials or any questions regarding this list, please contact your childs teacher as soon as possible. Specials Schedule: Ms. Hosen - GYM Thursday and Friday; MUSIC- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Mrs. Phipps - GYM Thursday and Friday; ART- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Homework will begin Tuesday, September 6th. There will be assigned homework and reading every night.
