1 Week of Health Education - Units include: Personal Wellness; Nutrition; Health Risk Behaviors; Managing Personal
Health; Environmental Health; and Family Life Education (6th & 7th Grade Only)
1 Week Exercise Science Education - Activities may include: Weight Training, Surfset Fitness, Nutrition Relays/Games,
Yoga, Tabata and Fitness Circuits, Cornhole, Frisbee, and other activities determined by teachers
2 Weeks Physical Education - Activities may include: Fitness Testing, Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Floor Hockey,
Softball, and other activities determined by teachers.
Course Materials:
Health: 1 Binder, Loose Leaf Paper, Pencils, Pens (Blue or Black Ink Only), Flash Drive
o Health class wish list: pencils, colored pencils, hand sanitizer, and a box of tissues.
Exercise Science Education: Proper Fitness Attire, Athletic shoes and socks, and other materials determined by teacher.
Physical Education: Proper Fitness Attire and Athletic type shoes with laces and socks
PE Uniform is available for $20.00 per set (individual pieces are $10 for shirt and $10 for shorts).
Uniforms will be sold during the first week of school during HPE class. If you need a uniform after the first
week of school, you can purchase one in the Main Office.
The students first and last name must be written in permanent marker on both the shirt and shorts.
General Information:
Combination lock A lock will be provided by the school, no personal locks are allowed. If lost, the replacement cost is
$5.00. DO NOT give the lock or combination to anyone else. No sharing of locks, uniforms and/or lockers is permitted.
Lost or Damaged Uniform(s) and Personal Items Landstown Middle School, its faculty, staff, and/or administration bears
no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage of student uniforms or personal items. Any student who loses or incurs damage to
their uniform will be required to replace the lost, stolen, or damaged uniform.
Lost and Found (Locker Rooms) maintained by the PE dept. Items may be expunged periodically before/after breaks.
Make-up Work For an excused absence, make-up work is to be completed at the discretion of your teacher. It is the
responsibility of the student to see the teacher for all assignments missed. Students are encouraged to access my
website/Google classroom when they are absent. Following their return from an absence, students will be allowed three
school days to complete and submit all make-up work.
Injury or Illness A note from the parent/guardian will excuse participation, but the student is still expected to dress for
activity. Extended illness or injury, lasting more than three days, will necessitate a physicians note. If your student is
out for an extended absence, parents should contact the guidance department to request assignments.
Homework Help is a service available to students to receive help from certified state teachers. Online assistance is available
Monday through Thursday from 3 pm to 9 pm and Saturday 9 am 3 pm. Homework Help can be accessed through the
following website: https://www.vbgov.com/government/departments/libraries/kids/Pages/homework-resources.aspx. There
is also a link on the homepage of my teacher website.

All students are expected to follow the Landstown Middle School code of conduct. Students are expected to be on time and
prepared, show self-control, respect self and others, be polite to others, and show quality work.
Jewelry and watches should not be worn during Exercise Science Education and Physical Education classes.
Due to safety concerns, glass containers, lotions, or sprays of any kind are prohibited. These items will be confiscated.
Non-participating students must remain with their assigned teacher. An alternative assignment may be assigned.
Grading Procedures:
To monitor your childs progress and grades, sign up for SchoolNet Parent Portal.
To access your childs fitness test scores, go to the LMS homepage and select Students, then WELNET (use the students login information).
All of the work a student does is used to assess the students mastery of the essential standards; this may include: selfassessments, peer-assessments, quizzes/tests, performance-based assessments, personal portfolio, and others as determined by
the teacher.
A student cannot properly be assessed when assignments are missing, nor can he/she be successful on quizzes and tests
without practice. If a student does not turn in an assignment, every effort will be made to have the student complete it. If,
after several attempts to obtain the assignment it remains undone or incomplete, an Academic Detention (held after school)
may be assigned.
