Therefore Anthony uses his lack of emotions mixed with rhetorical questions and pathos
to persuade the citizens that brutus is not fit to rule. In addition to pathos Anthony uses rhetorical
questions in his speech to reiterate the purpose of his ideas.
Anthony uses Rhetorical questions to persuade the citizens into believing brutus is not fit
to rule. During Mark Antony's speech about Ceasars death he asks, was this ambition
(shakespeare 3.2 pg 135) mark antony uses this after he had explained his other statements to
create ideas in the citizens mind that Caesar was not ambitious. He also uses this to form hatred
towards Brutus and the conspirators for killing Caesar. After his statement about Brutus should
not be king Mark Antony says, I have a dagger for myself when my country decides it needs my
death (ShakeSpeare 3.2 pg 135). Mark Antony uses this quote to make the citizens choose if
they will believe him or disbelieve him.
By using rhetorical questions and pathos, Mark Antony tries to persuade the citizens that
brutus had no other reason to kill Caesar other than just being greedy and power hungry. Through
his Speech Mark Antony also tries to prove that brutus only cares for himself and has no
intention to help the people.
