Word Study Contract

For word study this year, you get to choose the homework practice activities
you would like to do to learn what the words mean and how to spell them.
Please write the activity number on the top of all pages. Remember
to use ALL WORDS FOR EACH ACTIVITY. You may not repeat an option until
you have completed 5 different ones. Choose the same 15 words to use
for the week.
1. Write sentences using your words to show you know the meaning and
underline your spelling word.
2. Write each word and its definition.
3. Divide each word into syllables and highlight the vowel in each.
4. Write your words and cross out the silent letters.
5. Write a tongue twister for each of your words.
6. Write your words in alphabetical order.
7. Write newspaper headings using your words. Underline your spelling words.
8. Make a word search on graph paper and circle all your words.
9. Write your words in cursive 5 times each.
10.
Make an additional list of 12 new words that have the same feature as
your
words.
11.
Use all the words to make a poem or story. Underline your spelling
words.

Create a comic strip using your words. Underline your spelling words.
13.
Make a crossword puzzle on graph paper with clues.
14.
Have an adult give you a practice test. An adult signature is required
for this.

Complete an E5 sheet with your words.

Make up your own activity, with approval first.

Make a word pyramid/staircase.

Write your words 5 times each in a different font, handwritten or typed.

Write the words as rainbow words. Write each word in pencil then

times using a different colored marker or colored pencil.
