Que 01.

A concrete 3 Storied (GF +1F+2F and Steel Truss roof) building for a school laboratory shown in the
drawing attached with this file. Ground floor supported in slab on grade and other floors formed as
a simple frame structure covered by the steel truss roof.
Building heights as follows
GF to 1F

3.6 m and other floors 3.3 m.

Verify the re-inforcement details given in the drawing for beams and columns are adequate for the
following load conditions.
Dead Loads:

Evaluate the Self weight of whole structure.

125mm thick slab with 50 mm thick cement render finishes.
150mm thick non load bearing block wall having 3.75 kN/m2 surface load
constructed along the outer periphery from the first floor.

Live Loads:

Consider 3 kN/m2 uniformly throughout the buildings.

(Use BS 6399 and Reynolds handbook for calculation of loads.)

Pin supported at Base.

Neglect the wind effect
Load Combinations: As per BS code.
Mentions all the assumption made with engineering judgment.

Que 02.
The steel building constructed using UC and UB as shown in the below plan, front and side view.

Find the Appropriate maximum three sections of UB and UC each to fabricate the above steel
building under the following data,
Dead Loads:

Evaluate the Self weight of whole structure.

125mm thick slab with 50 mm thick cement render finishes.
Glazed curtain wall (10mm thick) along the outer periphery from the first floor.

Live Loads:

Consider as a commercial showroom.

(Use BS 6399 and Reynolds handbook for calculation of loads.)

Pin supported at Base.

Neglect the wind effect and the seismic effect.
