Title: LAYING OUT A HORIZONTAL SIMPLE CURVE USING TWO THEODOLITES
Name: Nikko Paolo P. Villanueva
Date Submitted: March 11, 2014
Professors Signature: ________________________

Section: EI1

Analysis: (Guide Questions)

1. Did you incur error in this fieldwork? If so, what are the sources of this error?
This fieldwork is hard to do because you should be god at approximating. One
movement because of one theodolite may cause a lot of major adjustments for the other
instrument. Some errors may include a little wrong approximations in adjusting and
adjusting again and again. Overall, we did the experiment correctly although we had to do it
with a very small amount of time.
2. Can you minimize or avoid the same error for the next fieldwork? How?
Yes, maybe by having more time in doing the experiment. The limited time allotment for our
group is the main cause of our miscalculations and some approximations. Next time, well
try to finish the other fieldwork faster so that well be more accurate on the hard parts of
the fieldwork just like in this one.
3. Were you involved in performing this fieldwork? What was your part?
Yes, all of us did almost all the possible part of this experiment. I did the measuring, the
holding of the prism, the reading and interpretation of the values and the setting up of the
equipment. All of us got a round robin role for us to maximize the experience of this
experiment.
Remarks, Hints and Precautions: (You may include criticisms about the instruments,
difficulties encountered in the field, suggestions to improve the field procedure, etc.)

This experiment is hard to do. Even with the use of total station, its still very hard to
approximate things. It is very hard to ensure that the markings exactly point the point of
intersection of the two theodolites. I suggest that people doing this should a lot about 30
minutes to finish this experiment so that youll not be in a hurry doing this experiment.
Maybe to improve this experiment, less stations could be done so that itll be easier and less
time consuming. Overall, just practice teamwork and youll finish this experiment with
accuracy and precision.
