EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As partners we have a vast knowledge in the catering industry, we intend to establish our
business of supplying good, quality hot and cold beverages and confectionaries at an affordable
price. We have conducted a market research and realize that there are few coffee shops sited at
the CBD, for example there is caf Munandi, Haefelis to mention a few. Some are located in
outskirts of town. As a result this has motivated us to come up with a business plan of a coffee
shop in the CBD, where there are number of fast foods that will provide an alternative to the
catering industry, after realizing the need to have a variety and good quality of food and the
service. This coffee shop is set to lure customers from the fast foods outlets and those doing their
business at the CBD hence it have given the potential for our business to have a firm start as it
will be the only coffee shop at the CBD. The twist coffee shop is a company which is yet to be
established. The company will be customer driven as there has been a high demand of food and
drink on a day to day basis. They are few businesses that offer hot beverage in the CBD which
give us hope for our business to get more customers.

The twist coffee shop will be located in the City centre at Fife Street and Jason Moyo Avenue in
Bulawayo. The location is set to target customers that are local who would not like to walk long
distance from their work place to quench their thirst. The location is also meant to be of great
convenience to the suppliers in terms of delivering commodities that will be used in the process
of food production. The twist coffee shop will be sited close to other foods outlets for example
chicken inn so as to lure and entice customers who may also be regular customers to the closer
food outlets.

At the moment the business has seven partners to succeed in establishing the company. The
positions of seven partners in the business are as follows;

The partners have contributed $14000 as capital through their personal savings. The twist coffee
shop to be fully established and for the business to start functioning we need $50000 in total.
Therefore we are appealing for a bank loan worth $36000 to help us establishing and funding our
business to be operational. The money will be used in purchasing equipment and commodities
that are going to be used in food production. The twist coffee shop will be offering a variety of
cold and hot beverages as well as their accomplishments like snacks which include the
following:
Hot beverages; coffees and teas served hot for example Irish coffee, decaffeinated and hot
chocolate.
Cold beverages: these include ice tea, sorbets, pure juice, soda floats.
Snacks: we are going to offer a variety of snacks for example sandwiches, chips, biscuits and
homemade cookies for afternoon teas and pan cakes
Our menu will include dishes that can be easily prepared and available with minimum of delay as
we will be serving people rushing to work for the convenience of customers which in turn allows
a higher turn off and allows the guest to have a snack with a beverage
The company will keep all sets of accounts in terms of statuary requirements, receipting and
banking of funds .a qualified accountant will be doing all the systematic recoding of all business
transaction. As coffee shop business our mission is to provide the best quality classical beverages
and confectioneries that are healthy, nutritious to the community hence delivering the best
refreshing experience to the guest at the same time generating sustainable for the shareholders

The idea of this project was location oriented generated from the fact that most coffee shops are
located in out skirts of the town and some customers may not be able to drive or travel to such
places, as a result the twist coffee shop will be located for the convenience of the customers and
to cater for those customers who would like to have their food or to be offered a service different
to those offered by the nearby food outlets.

We created our receipts from different sources, for example from the internet, modified sum
through improving their standards, quality, as well as their presentation. Our experienced and
qualified chefs have promised to modify some of our products and introduce more new products
to the coffee shop.

DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS
Twist coffee shop is a partnership business which comprises of active partners who will
participate on the day to day functioning of business.as the patriotic members we are aiming at
giving back to the community, through the creation of employment especially the youths and
those who are job seeking.
Twist coffee shop endeavors to provide delicious items and fresh coffee within a specious
environment to Bulawayo residents and visitors .the core workers bring a total of four years each
to the outlet. The coffee shop will provide coffee all day long to the residents so that they will not
enjoy tasty confectionary but also a stylish unique interior dcor and perfect service in an attempt
to cater for business people and those who would like to conduct meetings ,we will provide some
sitting space for them while they have their beverages and some accompaniments the coffee shop
interns to open its doors to the public in December 2015 with the aim of promoting all visitors
and residents of the city of Bulawayo with a true culinary experiences
Our business will open at 07.00 am to cater for those who would like to have their teas or
beverages and confectionaries early in the morning .we will be closing our business at 08.30 pm
for the convenience of customers and those who would like to have their beverages and
confectionaries late in the evening.

The company is yet to be registered in accordance with the companies Act charter24.03 also
value added tax (VAT) and other statutory tax laws of the country as soon as funding is secured .
We are looking forward to work and become loyal to the country through the payment of taxes
for the development of the country.

Twist coffee shop will be producing hot and cold beverages with their accompaniments all day
long .We will be ready to offer our service any time when the shop is open. As mentioned earlier
on, there will be beverages that will be served even for those who would like to discuss business
over coffee.
Through being a customer driven company, we are looking forward to providing the best
products to our customers which in turn will help us to generate more profits that would make
the company bigger and even better in the long run hence promoting its growth or expansion to a
greater establishment like a restaurant.

Our products will be there to cater for the needs of different people in the community .we are
committed to producing a variety of products ranging from the beverages that are served hot and
some served cold and their accompaniments.

The twist coffee shop shall advertise the company its products through the promotional mix
elements which are advertising through the press, public relations and the internet only just to
mention a few, a bill board will also be used.

The location of the twist coffee shop is strength of in its self because it the only coffee shop
located at the central business district (C.B.D) hence making it to be a great convenience for
those customers who may travel long distances to get their coffee and accompaniments thus
saving their time and travel expenses.

MULTI-SKILLED WORKSHOP
All the partners of the work shop have been professionally trained in the hospitality industry
and have knowledge on the operations as well as the task that are conducted at the coffee shop
workforce is multi skilled such that a waiter can be a cashier, the food and beverage manager
can also be chef. The skilled workforce make guest satisfied due to quick service delivery.in

other words our staff is trained to be all-rounder, meaning we all work in all the areas in the
coffee shop.
FRIENDLY STAFF
The friendly and helpful staff will encourage market growth as well as the market growth as well
as the market share as it promotes routine visits from the guest as well as the good reputation of
twist coffee shop, the staff is available to cater for the customers and since all the staff have been
trained in the hospitality industry we are going to deliver hospitality and good classical service to

Apart from the operational strength of the twist coffee shop, there are some weaknesses that may
at any time hamper the full productive capacity.

The coffee shop does not have enough capital for it to be fully established.

expand our business.

We will take advantage of the market through maintaining the good quality services as well as

purchasing coffee and a sandwich so as to withstand the competition from the new and existing

BUSINESS FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND NGOS
This is an opportunity for the coffee shop since we have provided some siting space for those
who would like to have meetings. We are targeting to having business to NGOs and the
government as they can carry out their meetings at our coffee shop resulting in more business
and more revenue to the coffee shop gained from these meetings

We will provide employment as a way of giving back to the community in the long run. Building
good relationship with the customers will encourage repeat business which will bring more
revenue to the company hence leading to business stability. The business is likely to grow as it

A new company, the will be some competition as there will be other coffee shops in the city
center which are already operating. In the short run it may be difficult for the coffee shop to
penetrate the market, characterized by low market growth and low market share.
SLOW MARKET GROWTH
Market growth contributes to the coffee shop business. The slower the market growth the lower
the arrival of guests at the coffee shop and this may cause a negative publicity to the coffee shop.
DESCRIPTION OF THE MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
Our Managing Director will be responsible for all round supervision of the company.
The accountant will be responsible for all the money that comes in and out of the company. All
the record keeping and transactions will been done by the accountant.
Cashiers will be responsible for handling of all payment and issuing of receipts to the guest.
Food and beverage manager will supervise the daily operations and handling of food and
beverages. The manager will also monitor and ensure fulfillment of companies specified projects
and maintain regulatory board of health department for better output.
The head chef is responsible for monitoring the production of food and delegating duties to the
pastry chef. She will be compiling menus of the day and training of other personnel on the new
recipes which are going to be introduced. She will also be responsible on the actual production of
food and its presentation.
The supervisor is responsible for the running of the coffee shop making sure that customers are
served to the required satisfaction. When there is too much pressure the supervisor will help with
service to maintain our service delivery.
Waitresses will be responsible for the service in the coffee shop. They will also be responsible
for doing the mis-en place which will be the preparation before service time. The waiters are
also responsible for organising of tables and chairs. Taking of orders from tables and serving of
seated guests will be done by the waitress.
The kitchen porter will be responsible for maintaining general cleanliness of the coffee shop.

transport allowance instead of salaries for the first few months. Adjustments will be made the
