Course Orientation
1. Key English Test for Schools (KETfS)
When our students finish Pre-teens C16, they will be ready to take the Cambridge
ESOL test KETfS. In order to further prepare our students for this test, we have
received permission from Cambridge University Press (CUP) to include exercises from
the Objective KET book and from teen-appropriate CCCs.
2. British (UK) Vocabulary
The KETfS is in British (UK) English so throughout this level we will be teaching UK
vocabulary equivalents. Each student must receive a copy of the PT C9 UK/US
Vocabulary at the onset of the course.
Note: The first time a UK vocabulary equivalent is taught, the reference on the planner states
see appendix. Each vocabulary set is only listed once in the appendix. Planner references for
vocabulary that has been presented before are there to remind you to elicit the words from
your students. They will not remember new vocabulary that is only taught/elicited once.
If you want to hear how a word is pronounced, go to the online resource for British (UK) English
vocabulary/pronunciation: http://www.macmillandictionary.com/ , and set the British (UK)
