Telecoms engineers responsibilities in the mobile network project

Transmission engineer:
1. Deployed new cell sites, implemented topology modification and upgrades for old sites.
2. Monitored the transmission network, trouble-shot and resolved radio faults and alarms, tested
for Bit errors.
3. Collated the capacity information and configuration parameter of all the links in the networks into
a central database.
4. Designed network for link and network reliability using diverse and alternative routing.
5. Responsible for planning and directing Line-of-Sight (LOS) surveys and adjusting network
design based on LOS feedback.
6. Designed network for required link availability and end-to-end network availability.
7. Handing over the new transmission nodes to the consultant side and performing the PAT
(Performance Acceptance Test).
8. Performing the 24 hours stability test.
9. Repeater to terminal conversion.
10. Traffic path implementation.
11. Applying the fine tuning to improve the receive signal level (RSL) and make sure that the
system is working in a healthy performance.
12. Performing the preventive maintenance for the network sites (indoor & outdoor).
13. Responsible to make all transmission network elements visible to the NMS monitoring system.
14. Design the link budgets.

BSS engineer:
1. Provide commissioning, integration & acceptance testing of BSS network elements.
2. Performance management of BSS Elements as per the QOS and assurance of their
parameters so as to meet tender requirements with the customer.
3. Monitoring and analysis of network and performance reports generated from OMC.
4. Follow-up for the resolution of all the technical Issues raised by project team, customer and
follow-up for the timely resolution of service requests.
5. Configured Base station parameters and integrated new Base stations to the network.

RF engineer:
1. Monitoring the performance of mobile radio network by conducting drive test and analyzing
various reports generated from OSS.
2. Co-ordination with the field engineers of radio network and switching sections for rectifying
radio network problems and improving the network performance and quality.
3. Conducting new site surveys for radio and transmission network for expansions and new
project works.
4. Preparation of cell design data for the new BTS sites.
5. Hardware dimensioning (BTS).
6. Monitoring of network performance by carrying out the drive test and analysis of drive test log.
7. Propose for network expansion based on the traffic report analysis.

Core (IP / backbone) network engineer:

1.
2.
3.
4.

Development of the overall architecture for the networks and infrastructure.

Manage the network design, services, procedures, and policies.
Ensure appropriate hand-off to operations support staff of new implementations or upgrades.
Monitor performance, capacity, and availability of the network on an ongoing basis.
Recommend improvements in technologies and practices to increase these metrics.

5. Maintain awareness of and familiarity with trends and new developments in technologies used
in, or appropriate for use in, networks and infrastructure.
6. Develop proof-of-concept pilots and test plans for new tools and technologies as appropriate
for use in networks and infrastructure. Coordinate implementation of new tools and
technologies in the production environment and ensure appropriate hand-off to operations
support staff of production tools and technologies.
7. Responsible for the successful running of the IP access core network environment and its
development going forward.
8. Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures, as well as establish and
recommend policies and standards on network configuration and services.

Quality engineer:
1. Developing and implementing quality management systems in manufacturing industries.
2. Analyzing, identifying and implementing manufacturing and/or business process
improvements which will improve capability and performance.
3. Creating and maintaining company documentation, such as quality manuals, and quality
procedures.
4. Troubleshooting problems or flaws in the item provided for testing.
5. Maintaining and controlling calibration records for all test and inspection equipment.

6. Applying good manufacturing practice and observing that it is being adhered to.
7. Performing tests and measurements using existing measurement equipment.
8. Participating in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process
related issues in the production department.

NOC engineer:
1. Monitor the alarms of all network elements throughout the operations and network
management software.
2. Perform periodical maintenance routine activities.
3. Escalate the fault cases to the concerned parties.
4. Check the active and history alarms.
5. Determine the defected node, its far end and the affected entities (by the alarm logs, the
network topology, the connectivity plan, or by the raised complaint (internal/external), etc..)
6. Make the possible immediate action if any, such as reset the port, the board or the node.
7. Review the active and recent MDTs modification at any related node or link.
8. Packet loss or weakness test.
9. Check any node before the HO process (before the declaration).
10. Request and apply the SW MDTs and manage the HW MDTs which will be implemented by
the FME.
