Transmission / Base Station Engineer

Reporting to Head of Technical Department

Objective:

To implement, support and manage all transmission links and nodes nationwide. Ensure that
there will be no service interruption at all time

Key Responsibilities/ Job description

 Radio Network Design


o Radio network design,
o frequency planning and capacity dimensioning for the backbone and access
radio networks
o Maintenance of telecommunications transmission systems and equipment
o Site surveys and Data verification/collection defining site preparation
requirements
o transmission equipment test and installation

 Network Monitoring & Support


o Recognition and response to network faults, isolation of trouble, and
restoration of service within the given time frame.
o Liaise with the Network operation center to provide up-to-update status to the
customers
o To provide complex technical support, troubleshooting and fault restoration of
Transmission core network
o Generate reports and recommendations to meet the desired KPIs
o Ensuring uptime and availability
o To report, follow-up and provide on-site support for NOC team for any
moves/adds and changes faults for all aspects of telecommunication conduct
benchmark to assess network performance
 latency,
 packet loss and
 throughput as compared to the access networks
 Technology testing
o New product testing
o Hardware testing
o Documentation of telecom procedures and processes
 Network technical signoff
o To conduct survey for any new telecom site for us to make sure that any new
installations will follow proper standards and Acceptance Tests Procedures
o To be involved in testing and commissioning of deployment on new project
o Responsible for performing any project acceptance and handover from Field
team
o Responsible for any network technical signoff
 Proactive maintenance
o Carry out reactive and proactive maintenance on multi-customer, multi-
technology networks, achieving agreed performance targets
o To review and plan for the schedule preventative and corrective maintenance
work for all transmission equipment
o To manage the critical spare parts for all transmission equipment
o To provide and follow up proper RMA for any faulty equipment to assure the
availability of the equipment
o Supervise the coordination of investigation / restoration work between the
relevant parties i.e. contractors, 3rd party providers, vendors, and internal staff
 Power Systems
o Perform power evaluations, identify power discrepancies and make
recommendations for corrective action
o Switch and Field AC/DC power systems – (predominantly maintenance
activity)

 Remain fit for work while on call at all times, including ensuring that all mandatory
training is maintained

 To complete any duties given to them by the Network Infrastructure Manager in a
timely and professional manner
 Report any Health and Safety Issues immediately to the Network Infrastructure
Manager or Superior and comply with all customer and company quality,
environmental and HSE requirements

KPIs

 Maintain communication with team and management to ensure that work will be
completed on schedule and in compliance with established practices
 Must attend all network transmission faults within the whole network 24 X 7
 Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high
degree of accuracy
 Leadership quality to lead the field technicians
 Prepare written reports and other technical documentation to communicate ideas,
concepts and details necessary to accomplish specific goals
 Dealing with network crises and emergencies at any time
 Manage outside working hours support and troubleshooting
 Complete other duties as assigned
