What is Microclimate?
A microclimate is the climate of a small area that is different from the
area around it such as garden, park, valley or a part of city. It may be
warmer or colder, wetter or drier, and more or less prone to frosts. The
factors comprising microclimate are surface temperature, relative
humidity, wind speed, solar insolation and precipitation. Microclimates
maybe quite small a courtyard in a building or a seating under the
shaded trees. Or microclimate maybe extensive a large water bodies,
urban areas or topography.
Difference between climate and microclimate.
Its characteristics.
The landscape components are vegetation, temperature, wind and
topography.
The role of landscape components in modifying microclimate with
respect to temperature, humidity, precipitation, air corridors, heat
islands, wind speed etc., in cities.
