AIT Array Induction

Imager Tools
The AIT* Array Induction Imager Tools accurately measure open borehole formation conductivity as a function of both well depth and
radius into the formation at different borehole
conditions and environments. Various tools
cater to special operating environments,
including slim wells and hostile, high-pressure,
high-temperature (HPHT) environments.
Wireline array induction tools use an array
induction coil that operates at multiple frequencies. Software focusing of the received
signals generates a series of resistivity logs
with different depths of investigation.
Multichannel signal processing provides
robust, stable tool responses with enhanced
radial and vertical resolution and correction
for environmental effects. Quantitative twodimensional (2D) imaging of formation resistivity is possible because of the large number
of measurements made. The images represent bedding and invasion features clearly
and quantitatively. Advanced invasion
description parameters are used to describe
the presence of transition zones and annuli.
The quantitative information about invasion
can be converted to a 2D image of water saturation Sw, which can be plotted in color at
the wellsite.

AIT Array Induction Imager Tool

The standard AIT-B and AIT-C tools are used
in moderate-environment wellbore conditions
to measure the true resistivity of geologic formations. AIT measurement of conductivity
as a function of both depth and distance
from the borehole has revolutionized induction logging by increasing the depth of investigation of the measured signal concurrent
with reducing the vertical resolution from
4 to 2 ft [1.22 to 0.61 m] and to 1 ft [0.30 m]
in smooth wellbores.

Platform Express Array Induction

Imager Tool
The AIT-H tool is designed expressly
for the Platform Express* logging suite.
It is approximately one-half the length
of the AIT-B and AIT-C tools, yet provides the same high-quality measurement. The tool is used primarily in
standard logging conditions of pressure
to 15,000 psi [103 MPa] and temperature
to 257F [125C]. The more recent AIT-M
tool provides the same measurements
with a temperature rating of 302F
[150C].

Slim Array Induction Imager Tool

SlimXtreme Array Induction Imager Tool

Slim wellbores require tools that are

smaller than standard logging tools. In
addition to its reduced diameter for use
with the SlimAccess* platform, the
Slim Array Induction Imager Tool
(SAIT) is designed to handle severe
doglegs.

The SlimXtreme* Array Induction

Imager Tool (QAIT) tool is used with
the SlimXtreme platform to log slim
wellbores under severe environmental
conditions. The slim tool diameter is
also useful for logging through severe
doglegs.

Hostile Environment Induction Imager Tool

The Hostile Environment Induction
Imager Tool (HIT) is a component of
the Xtreme* platform for logging hostile
environment wells. Even under severe
temperature and pressure conditions,
the induction measurement quality
matches that of the standard AIT tools.
