temperature was a room temperature than
decreased from there up until the year 1970
steadily increase the temperature from then on.
The temperature measurements do not cover all of

in the northern hemisphere compared to the

What does the data show?
The data shows that the sea ice maximum when its
at the end of winter cold season it covers about
the coastal waters of Russia, Alaska, Canada and
Greenland and the minimum data shows that the
sea ice only reaches to Greenland’s oceans and
islands
The graph shows that the number of natural
disasters have been reported has increase by a
significant amount since 1900 making steadily
growing throughout 1900 to 1940 until it has a
slight up then increasing from there upwards to
the 2000 to about 5000 reported natural disasters.
The data shows that the sea levels starts at 0mm in
1900 and it rises 3.3mm per year on average,
however it indicates that this rate has not been
stable over the whole period. The sea level now is
13-20cm higher on average than it was in 1900.
Uncertainties
Scientists use a threshold of 15% sea ice to mark the
ice edge for their measurements. This cut-off
provides the most consistent agreement between
satellite and ground observations. However,
different measuring devices give different results for
the extent because they have different sensitivities
to the ice edge conditions. This introduces bias into
the data depending on the device used.
The data relies on reports of natural disasters. In the
past, global communication was more difficult than it
is today. This may contribute to the lower number of
reports of natural disasters the further back in time
we look
