CAVE OF SHADOWS BATTLEFIELD


Required Sets: 2 Battle for the Underdark
Master Sets and Thaelenk Tundra.

This immense cavern lies below the frozen


mountains of the Thaelenk Tundra. As well as
providing some shelter from the cold and harsh
elements outside, it also serves as a short-cut
through the mountains to Concans Castle in the
North. However, it is not without its own
dangers

Cave of Shadows: Frosty Fray

MASTER GAME Frosty Fray
(2 Players)

The sound of dripping water and cracking ice echo


off the frost covered walls. High above, the caves
tall, cathedral-like ceiling is adorned with
hundreds of sharp, dangling icicles. During the
heat of the day no one can be sure just how long
theyll stay put. The battle, however, must go on.
Goal: Destroy all of your opponents figures.
Setup: Each player drafts or brings pre-made
500-point armies.
Keep 3 Dzu-Teh and their Army Card near the
battlefield to be used later.
The Dzu-Teh cannot be chosen to be in either
players army.
Shuffle and place a Brandars Chest Treasure
Glyph and 5 other random (non-Brandars Chest)
Treasure Glyphs symbol-side up where shown.
Player 1 starts in the blue starting zone; Player 2
starts in the red starting zone.
Special Rules: Treat all Snow Tiles as Normal
Snow and treat all Ice Tiles as Slippery Ice.
When the Brandars Chest Treasure Glyph is
revealed, the player that discovered it places 3
Dzu-Teh on any unoccupied Shadow spaces and
places the Dzu-Tehs Army Card in their army.
After taking a turn with the figure carrying
Brandars Chest, the player may also take a turn
with the Dzu-Teh. If Brandars Chest is dropped,
remove the Dzu-Tehs Army Card from the
players army.
Treasure Glyph Trap: If you roll a 1-5, an icicle
dislodges from the cave ceiling and strikes one of
your figures. Assign one undefendable wound to
any one of the figures you control. The Treasure
Glyph remains symbol-side up.

Icicle Stalactites: If a figure uses the Flying


special power to move, roll 1 attack die. If the
result is a skull, that figure receives 1 wound.
Figures with Stealth Flying are not affected by
Icicle Stalactites.
Victory: When the other side has no figures left
on the battlefield, you win. If the battle reaches
the end of Round 12, then the game is over and
the player with the most points on the battlefield
wins.

Cave of Shadows: Abominable Assault

MASTER GAME Abominable Assault
(2 Players)

As the sun sinks below the horizon outside, the


cave is plunged into intense darkness. Torches
are lit but the enemy troops remain hidden
elsewhere in the large cavernous space.
Creatures lurking deep within the hidden
recesses the cave begin to stir. Exactly how
these snowy beasts will react to the warring
armies remains to be seen.

Victory: When the other side has no figures left


on the battlefield, you win. If the battle reaches
the end of Round 12, then the game is over and
the player with the most points on the battlefield
wins.

Goal: Destroy all of your opponents figures.


Setup: Each player drafts or brings pre-made
600-point armies.

Players place armies as follows: Each player rolls


the 20-sided die; the player who rolls the highest
number chooses who goes first. Each player
places one Army Cards worth of figures on the
board with the following restrictions: 1) The
figures cannot be placed adjacent to any enemy
figures already on the board, and 2) Squad
figures must be placed adjacent to each other.
Players alternate placing figures in this way until
all the figures have been placed on the board.

Each player places one Brandars Chest Treasure


Glyph on the Army Card of any one Unique Hero
(or Uncommon Hero) in their army.
Special Rules: Treat all Snow Tiles as Normal
Snow and treat all Ice Tiles as Normal Ice.
The cave is pitch black. In this scenario the
Brandars Chest Treasure Glyphs represent
torches that can be picked up and carried just
like normal Treasure Glyphs. The torches must
be dropped to be deployed. Every figure that is
not within 5 spaces of a torch has no visible Hit
Zone. At the end of each round, any figure that
is not within 5 spaces of a torch is attacked by an
unseen snow-beast lurking in the shadows. Roll 1
attack die against each figure that is outside the
reach of the torches light. If the result is a skull,
that figure receives 1 wound.
