Calculating Air Compressor Flow Rates

This document provides instructions for calculating air compressor flow rates based on pump up times. To calculate: measure the volume of the receiver being pumped up in liters, multiply by the maximum pressure in BAR and 0.06, divide by the time in seconds for the compressor to reach maximum pressure as measured by a stopwatch, and multiply the result by 35.31 to obtain the free air delivered in cubic feet per minute.

Calculating Air Compressor Flow Rates,

Using Pump Up Times.

To calculate any compressor pump up times, follow the simple instructions.
Volume of receiver to be pumped up (in litres)
(Ensure the discharge valve is closed)
Multiplied By
The Maximum Pressure (BAR)
Multiplied by 0.06
Divided by
The amount of time from start of pumping, to the above maximum
pressure (seconds).
The stop watch to be started as soon as the compressor loads and stopped
when the compressor off loads)
Multiplied by 35.31

= Free Air Delivered in CFM

(CFM FAD)
