Students Comments:
I have personally thoroughly enjoyed my experience as director of the summer program at Edgemere Park thus far.
While I have had some minor bumps in the road, I have utilized practices and theories from many of my Recreation and
Leisure studies courses from the past few years at Ithaca College, which have in turn helped me manage the challenges
I have faced to the best of my ability. I love working in the outdoor environment with many repeat program attendees
from my last few summers; they seem to really enjoy and appreciate the time that myself and the other staff put in each
day to ensure that they have a good summer. I have learned a lot about myself, the recreation industry, and the
administrative processes that go into creating such a well developed summer program throughout the parks and other
facilities offered by the Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks, and I hope they can see that I have given
them my best effort during both my time in the office and in the field (figuratively and literally).
