Player of the Month: Hatty Montgomery

Social Member of the Month: Oliver Bradbury

Hatty put in some fine displays during

preseason after making the move up to the
Ladies 1s from last years Couples squad.
Her most notable performance came against
Birmingham Ladies 1s where she and her
teammates managed to shut down Olympic
Gold Medalist, Lily Owsley.

After a whole year without university hockey, Oli has

returned to Bath with guns blazing. Oli provided some
very unique team bonding challenges for preseason
freshers and seniors alike. He really stood out from the
crowd at socials and managed to encourage strong
integration throughout the club. Oli has set a high standard
of socialising for this year keep up the good work!

MONTHLY EXCLUSIVE
2 minutes with John Jackson
With over 200 international caps for Ireland and fresh from the
Rio Olympics, we managed to catch up with the new UoBHC
Ladies 1s coach for a quick interview to find out more about the
man behind the grin.
Q. What is your career highlight?

A. Rio Olympics for sure.

Q. Favourite Rio moment?

Preseason Week:
After 5 months of no hockey,
rangers returned to Bath to begin
Preseason Week. The weeks
festivities began with a Pub Quiz
for the mens squad whilst the
ladies squad did a meet and greet
with their new freshers at The
Crescent. Members of both
squads talked in angst hoping that
maybe Jody would take a less
fitness based approach to this
years
Preseason
Week
Obviously this wasnt the case
both squads began the week with
the 1000 yard test. This really set
the agenda for the week and also
showed that perhaps Josh
Southerns 2m35s 1000 yard
sprint over summer was a bit
suspect!
To celebrate surviving Jodys
first day of training, both squads
met for a curry at Bombay
lounge. This provided a great
opportunity for the freshers to
formally introduce themselves to
the seniors. After this, the whole
entourage headed to Molloys for
that first taste of snakebite.
The next day saw the ladies
play in their first preseason match
of the year against Kings Bruton
School. Of course Bath came out
on top, but the highlight of the
game had to be when fresher Sam
received an earful from one of
the 15-year-old Bruton player due

To his abysmal umpiring. Silly

Fresher.
Wednesday saw the turn of the
mens team. They comfortably
beat Cardiff Met and celebrated
with a Fresher Talent Show at the
Goat House. The freshers pulled
out all the stops, thoroughly
entertaining the seniors. The
ladies fresh treated their seniors to
a Bake-Off with fresher Rosie
winning the competition by
making some delicious Oreo
balls.
On Thursday and Friday,
Nottingham Trent University
made the trip to Bath. The mens
team came out on top, winning on
both days (including a huge 7-1
victory). The ladies managed a
victory on Thursday before
drawing their Friday match. The
climax of Trents visit came on
the Thursday night with a massive
joint social. The teams met in
Molloys, where a boat race took
place and of course Bath Rangers
came out on top despite M1s
Captain
Jonny
Veritys
horrendously slow pint. Both
clubs then headed to Second
Bridge for what can only be
described as a blurry night.
Preseason certainly set the tone
for the coming year with both the
level of hockey and standard of
socialising. Heres to a successful
year for the Bath Rangers!
