“The times they are a changin’’
Bob Dylan, 1963

How will we look back on the last decade?

The pace of change is astonishing and
there is no slowing it. We face even
more change in the years to come and
the challenge is to make sure that we are

a significant percentage of them will be

History Day
To start the day all the boys, dressed as historical figures, were greeted by a delicious
kedgeree prepared by Robert. Throughout the day we enjoyed visits by a Norman knight
and a lady survivor of the Titanic. We also enjoyed exhibits on the life of John Bradburne
and the Malaya Campaign in the Second World War and a collection of medieval toys and
weapons. After a wonderful Georgian Royal Navy themed lunch we were fascinated by a
show of birds of prey and their uses in war and hunting. Then to Tea inspired by Captain
Cooke’s travels in the Pacific. A huge thank you to Mr. Howroyd, Mr. Macpherson and
Robert for all their hard work allowing this wonderful day to happen.

The first week of the term, after an early start, Form VIb was off to Normandy. After a smooth
crossing, they arrived in Cherbourg and went to visit “La Cité de la mer. During the week,
they went to Utah Beach museum, Falaise castle, and the Overlord museum. They also spent
a morning at a local market buying cheese to be tasted in the evening. On their way back to
the ferry, they also visited Pegasus bridge. In the evenings, they went swimming in the sea
