Essential Question: Why scientists use a standard measurement system?
Objectives:
1. Students will explain that the SI units of measurement used by scientist are based on the
metric system.
2. Students will be able to support the use of mass in science rather than weight.
3. Students will know that to measure length the basic unit of measurement is the METER,
for mass is the KILOGRAM.
4. The SI units of measurement for a solid are meter cubic; the volume of a liquid is
measured in milliliters of centimeter cubic.
