DAILY LESSON PLAN OF (M7ME-IIa-1)

School NDVNHS Grade Level 7

Teacher Saima S. Bara Learning Area Mathematics
Teaching Date and July 8, 2022 Quarter Second
Time 9:00 – 10:00 am
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts of
Standards measurement.
B. Performance The learner is able to formulate real-life problems involving measurements
Standards and solve these using a variety of strategies.
C. Learning Learning Competency: Illustrates what it means to measure (M7ME-IIa-
Competencies/ 1)
Objectives Learning Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Understand what measurement is and how important it is.
2. Define the units of measurements.
3. Develop and enhance the ideas to measure things.

lesson or The students will be given a game called Scramble Word. They will be
presenting the divided into five groups to arrange the given scramble words. The words
new lesson
are related to the topic that will be discuss today. And the group who got
finish first and got the correct answer will be the winner.

B. Establishing a Tell the students what the purpose of the lesson is to understand what
purpose for the
lesson measurements is.

C. Presenting For instance, how long did you sleep last night?
examples/ - To find how long did you sleep, you need to measure time.
instances of the
new lesson Another example is how cold inside the office of the principal?
- To find out how cold the office of the principal, you need to
measure the temperature

D. Discussing new The teacher will introduce and explain the topic.
concepts and
According to Thorndike, anything that exists at all exists in some
practicing skills
#1 quantity and anything that exists in some quantity is capable of being
measured.
 Measurement is defined as the system or act of measuring.
It can be understood as a process of defining physical items
using numbers.
 For example, "this rod is bigger than that rod".
 This statement is serving a very limited purpose of comparison
where we do not know anything about the individual attributes of
the given rods.
 But if we say that the length of the first rod is 20 inches, and the
length of the second rod is 15 inches, therefore 1st rod is bigger
than the second one by 5 inches. This statement is making more
sense mathematically and offers us a reason for our deduction.
Another examples,
 How old are you?
 How tall are you?
 How much do you weigh?
To answer the above questions; what we need is to measure.
 To find how old you are, you need to measure time.
 To know how tall you are, you need to measure your height
(length).
 To know how much you weigh, you must weigh yourself.
E. Discussing new Ask the student’s idea about time, weight, length, volume and temperature.
concepts and
Ask their ideas about these terms before you explain further.
practicing new
skills #2 What is time?
The ongoing sequence of events is time. We can measure time in
seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, moths, and years.
Examples are clock and calendar help us to measure time.
What is weight?
The amount of matter a thing consists of is called its weight.
Measuring weight means to measure the heaviness of a thing.
Example, weight can be measured in grams, kilograms and pounds.
What is length?
The amount of something that is measured from one end to the other
along the longest side is called length.
Example, length can be measured in centimeters, meters. Kilometers, feet
and miles.
Another example, the use of a ruler to determine the length of a piece
of paper. So, let’s say the measurement of that paper is 15 inches for the
width and 25 inches for the length.
What is temperature?
The temperature of a thing is the measurement of how hot or cold it is.
Example, temperature is measured in Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin.
What is capacity (Volume)?
Capacity is a measure of how much quantity a thing can hold.
Example, capacity is measured in liters and gallons.

Therefore, measurement is important, without the ability to measure, it

would be difficult for scientists to conduct experiments or form theories.
Not only is measurement important in science and the chemical industry, it
is also essential in farming, engineering, construction, manufacturing,
commerce, and numerous other occupations and activities. Measurement is
an important part of our daily lives. One tends to know everything
accurately. Measurements gives us precise details.

F. Developing Give the students an activity about the lesson.

2. Temperature
3. Time
4. Length
5. Weight

Answer key
1. Liters or gallons
2. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin.
3. Clock and calendar
4. Centimeters, meters. Kilometers, feet and miles
5. Grams, kilograms and pounds
G. Finding practical Let them answer the following questions based on their selves.

skills in daily 2. How hot is it today?
living
3. How many hours did you stay in school?
4. How heavy you are?
5. How tall you are?

H. Making Measurement tools make our lives better and safer and they enhance the
generalizations
quality and quantity of life. Arguably, the ability to measure physical
and abstractions
about the lesson properties accurately has tremendous survival value that gives humans an
adaptive, evolutionary advantage honed through many years of natural
selection. Measurements give us precise details.
