AZAADI 70 Valedictory function

KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, LEAD Cell and Rotaract Club conducted the
Valedictory function of AZAADI70 Yaad Karo Qurbani on Sunday 21 st August 2016
at KLS GIT Auditorium. Azaadi70 was a unique initiative by the HRD Ministry of
India, to create awareness by conducting various activities in schools and colleges.
As the Guests of Honor Shri. Vithal Yalgi, Freedom Fighter, Shri. P S Kulkarni, Retired
School Principal and Shri. B H Walvekar, Super Senior Citizen, Retd. Manager of DIG
office were present. Dr. A S Deshpande, Principal KLS GIT felicitated the Guests of
Honor on this occasion.
A special cultural performance by Kalkeri Sangeet
Vidyalaya, Dharwad (School of economically backward class children) was organized
on this occasion. An amount of Rs 15000/- was donated to the Kalkeri Sangeet
Vidyalaya to support the education of the children. On the occasion of 70 th
Independence day a total of 465 students of LEAD Cell at KLS GIT conducted
drawing and essay writing competitions at 111 schools in and around the city of
Belagavi. More than 4,753 (Four thousand seven hundred fifty three) students had
participated in the same to make it a mega event by KLS GIT. Rotaract club students
also interviewed various freedom fighters of Belagavi Shri. Anandrao Bhendigeri,
Shri. Rajendra Kalghatgi and Shri Vasantrao Gurjar and created awareness of the
same. The activities were conducted for 7 days. Principal of Chikkumbimath Anatha
Ashrama Shri Mallikarjun Bhavikatti along with the students were also present.
Faculty coordinator Shri. Harshit Kulkarni and Ms. Prajakta Patil coordinated the

programme. Staff and students of LS GIT , various other schools and colleges were
present.
