INTRODUCTION
GALSI (Societa di Studio e promozione per il Gasdotto Algeria - Sardegna - Italia
SpA) has been formed to study the feasibility of a new gas pipeline system consisting
of sections of onshore pipeline in Algeria, Sardinia and Italy, and connecting offshore
sections.
J P Kenny and Sofregaz have formed a Joint Venture (JV) in order to conduct PreFEED and optional FEED services to GALSI for the gas pipeline project from Algeria
to Italy via Sardinia. The JV is led by J P Kenny.
The work allocation between J P Kenny and Sofregaz for the pre-FEED and FEED
activities is as follows:
1.1
Sofregaz is responsible for the terminal facilities (excluding pig traps) and will
in addition be responsible for all electrical, instrumentation, SCADA and data
communications for the whole pipeline system.

Compliance
Compliance by the SUPPLIER with this specification shall not relieve him of his
responsibilities to supply Barred Tees suited to meet the specified requirements
and/or local codes governing health and safety.
The SUPPLIER shall notify the COMPANY in writing, of any proposed deviation from
this Specification. The COMPANY's decision in respect of concession requests will
be final.
The SUPPLIER shall continually verify the quality and fitness for purpose of the
Barred Tees, and shall propose appropriate actions/measures if any aspects of
manufacture are found to be unsatisfactory.
1.5
Quality Conformance
The SUPPLIER shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the COMPANY that his
activities within the scope of this document are in accordance with the relevant
section of BS EN ISO 9001. The SUPPLIER shall submit to the COMPANY for
review and approval, a Quality Plan and procedural specifications prior to
commencement of work. The Quality Plan shall define all SUB-SUPPLIERs
involvement in the work. The review in this Specification shall only indicate a general
requirement and shall not relieve the SUPPLIER of his obligations to comply with the
requirements of the Contract.
1.6
Safety
Safety is paramount. All work shall be performed in accordance with the safety requirements
listed in the contract documentation.

MECHANICAL TESTING
General
Re-tests
If any test piece fails to meet the specified requirements, two additional specimens
may be taken. If either of the tests fail to meet specified requirements, the forging or
batch of forgings represented by the test shall be deemed to have failed test and be
rejected. Alternatively, and with the prior approval of the COMPANY, the SUPPLIER
may re-heat treat the forgings and repeat all prescribed mechanical tests. Such
repeated treatment may be carried out no more than twice.

Note 1: 248 barg meets the most conservative requirement, which is from the Algerian code: PMS =
0.67 x PU, where PMS is equivalent to MAOP (166 barg) and PU is the field test pressure. This value
has also been used for the Porto Botte tee for consistency (according to the DM24/11/84 the field test
pressure would be 238 barg). During such a field test, the hoop stress would be approximately 50%
of SMYS.

1. Branch materials and wall thicknesses are in accordance with relevant facility piping materials specifications, 100-L-1-0002, 400-L-1-0002 and
600-L-1-0002.
2. Olbia materials specification (600-L-1-0002) does not show 48 inch piping in the 6CP1 class, therefore the Porto Botte materials specification
(400-L-1-0002) has been used.
3. Piombino Materials Specification (900-L-1-xxxx) is not available, so wall thickness for 32 15CP1 class has been selected as per Olbia materials
specification (600-L-1-0002).
4. Quantities are shown in the Onshore and Offshore Pipelines Material Take Off, 000-B-5-0507.
