Charles Schulz, cartoonist of Peanuts died at age of 77 at 9.45 pm 1999, in Santa Rosa, his home. His
death was caused by cancer and small strokes in abdominal. He was born in St Paul Minnesota, USA
November26,1922.In1943,hejoinedthearmyandhadtobesenttoEurope.
After the war, Schulz started leering for a church comic book and sold them in 1947. Not long after
that, his rst comic was sold to a syndicate. Schulz also received the Reuben Award for comic arts
highest honor, in 1955 and 1964. Followed in 1978, he was voted by 700 comic artists all around the
worldandbecametheInternationalCartoonistoftheYear.Hewashonoredwithalifetimeachievement
award in National Cartoonist Society Convention in New York May 27. Schulz was called a true
cartoonistbyaMadMagazineCartoonist,SergioArgones.
These awards were from Peanuts comic strip. Actually, the name was changed from Lil Folks. It
started when he sent this to the church comic book. Also, Schulz approached The Saturday Evening
where the title changed. Peanuts made it to debut on October 2, 1950. Published in more than 2,600
newspapers and reached millions of readers in 75 countries and became a part of American Culture.
Through his comic, he was able to show peoples weak characters with gentle humor. The endearing
qualitiesofPeanutswasitsconstancy.ThelaststripwasonFebruary13thatincludedSnoopyandother
PeanutscharactersalongwithDearFriendsleertothankhisreadersforthesupport.
