Artifact Cover and Reflection


Artifact Title: Classroom schedule, specials schedule, and calendar
Teaching Standard:

Demonstrates competence in classroom management.

Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:
This artifact is pictures that I took of my classroom showing our daily schedule,
calendar, and specials schedule. I then take the information from those three sources
and write on the board daily, the short date and what special we have that day. This
artifact meets the criteria for this standard because is shows how I have developed and
implemented procedures and routines in the classroom. I have posted these things in
the classroom for students to look at and begin to take responsibility for their own daily
schedule this supports high expectations for the students in my classroom. Different
students leave my classroom at different times of the day to see other teachers, such as
resource teachers, so they can tell by looking at these resources when they need to
leave the classroom. Students also look at the specials schedule to know what special
they have the next day so they can be prepared. For example, needing tennis shoes for
PE, or bringing back library books so they can check out new ones.
Reflection on the artifact:
I think these different posted schedules have worked really well in my classroom. My
students really like to know what is coming up next, and this gives them the
responsibility of knowing instead of asking me. I also think it helps my students with
transitions because they always know what is coming up next, and what to expect.
There is no guessing game when it comes to when we will have different academic
subjects during our day because it is posted daily. I also think posting the short date
for them each day helps them to learn how to write the date properly. It also helps when

they look back at old work to see the progress they have made compared to the
different dates on their papers.
