a) Procedure of making
wooden doll
Lets first make an easy doll by wood. To
make it we need to take piece of soft wood
of 3cm thick 3 cm wide, 15 cm long. Kodom
or Shimul is the appropriate wood for it.
With the sharp chisel we need ti cut four
edges first of the four corners.
Then continually we need to keep on cutting
slowly until it becomes smooth long round
shaped from top to toe like a thin ruler. After
cutting it in round shape it will have the size
of 3cm and 15 cm in length. With Hack saw
lets cut slightly deep around all the marks
given by pencil. Notice the picture carefully
and notch around the with a sharp chisel
following the picture.
Arts and crafts (Ch-7)
Now its time to colour the doll. We will use
thin and thick two types of brushes. After
applying color on basket , hair, face, body
and sari with thick brush,we will colour
nose , eyes, lips, fringe of the sari and

weaving of basket with thin brush. If we try

to color everything with thin brush, color
will not be evenly distributed. If the Chinese
laquer or enamel color of tin container gets
thick add a little bit tar pin oil to make it
slightly thinner but not much. It will look
beautiful.

b) Procedure of making
wooden horse
For horse take a piece of soft wood cut iny
2cm thick, 10cm wide and 16 cm long size.
Lets both the sides smooth by rubbing. Draw
the picture of the horse by using carbon
paper copying on the wood. Up to the fore
head of head would remain thick but
forward face slightly would be thinner. After
face from the neck it would be thinner and
slightly round shaped.
Arts and Crafts (ch- 7)
Separate the ears by cutting slightly upto
the fringe of mane. Fix the horse on a piece
of wood of 1 cm thick, 5 cm wide an 11cm
long by nailng the front leg and hind leg,

leaving equal space at the front and back.

Now wherever we put the horse it will not
fall. After making the horse smooth by
rubbing and sand paper on it paint, color it
with Chinese lacquer or enamel paint of our
choice.
