ARMACAD Training Exercises

Application I: TRAINING 1

Open Training_1.dwg

Draw a bar in section 1 (HA12, cover=25mm)

Draw an associated bar mark (Number of bars=10)

Exercise 1: Add a comment and modify the number of bars and the number of layers.

Exercise 2: Open the pop-up menu (Double click on the object), use the go to command
alternatively on the bar and on the bar mark.

Exercise 3: Start a bar schedule. Delete the real size bar. Restart the bar schedule.

Exercise 4: Stretch a section and restart the bar schedule. Compare the results.

Warning! : In the following exercise, you will modify the Armacad settings. After the
exercise, remember to save again the original options.
Exercise 5: In Option/Project, change the scale to cm. Draw a new bar. What do you see? What
is your conclusion?

Exercise 6: Erase and redraw a bar with the option: Deduct concrete cover at the origin and at
the end. Edit the bar mark and modify the spacing. What do you see? Now draw a new
associated bar mark.

Warning! : In the following exercise, you will modify the Armacad settings. After the
exercise, remember to save again the original options.
Exercise 7: Modify the concrete cover to 4cm, with the Shift a segment command. In
option/Project/Bending diameter, change the colour used for the diameter 12.

Exercise 8: Add a hook at the end of the bar, with the option Deduct concrete cover. Start the
commands List a bar and then Bar schedule. What do you see?

Exercise 9: Erase the existing bar mark. Create a new bar mark in Spacing mode. Indicate the
spacing: sp=200. Select the distribution on the Plan View 1. Edit the bar mark and change the
spacing. Is the number of bars updated?

Exercise 10: Erase the existing bar mark. Create a new bar mark using the dim line mode.
Select the distribution on the Plan View 1.

Edit the bar mark and change the spacing. Is the number of bars updated?

Edit the bar mark and change the number of bars. What do you see?

Stretch the plan view and the dim line. Is the number of bars updated?

Exercise 11: On the section 2, draw a full size bar. On the Plan View 2, draw a figurative bar
with the same diameter as the full size bar.

Add a bar mark intersecting the figurative bar.

Add a single bar mark to the full size bar.

Open the pop-up menu, use the go to command to reach alternatively the full size bar
and the figurative bar.

Exercise 12: Modify the diameter of the full size bar. Then modify the diameter of the figurative
bar. What do you see?

Accept the error message and modify the diameter of the figurative bar. Then modify the
diameter of the real size bar. Open the figurative bar command and click on
Associate.

Modify again the diameter of the full size bar. What do you see?

Exercise 13: Draw a full size bar with hooks somewhere in you drawing. Then draw a figurative
bar marked with a dim line in a plan view. Modify the diameter of the real size bar.

Exercise 14: Erase the two bars on bar mark created in the exercise 13. Then draw a figurative
bar with the options: Associate with a full size bar and Generate full size bar.

Exercise 15: Erase the bar and bar mark created in the exercise 14. Then draw a figurative bar
with the options: Associate with a full size bar, Generate full size bar and Generate
associated bar mark.

Exercise 16: Add a hopper in the plan view. Erase the associated bar mark and create a new
one with the dim line option. Create a multiple dim line. Modify the spacing. What do you see?

Application II: TRAINING II

Open Training_2.dwg

Exercise 17: In the Section 1, draw a HA14 frame and a HA10 pin. Try with outside and inside
snap. Use the Fill < > Wire command to draw with two lines.

Exercise 18: Draw a non standard frame in the Section 2 using the commands Standard bars
and Add hooks.

Exercise 19: Draw a HA12 frame in the Sections 3 and 4.Carry out a linear variation of the
frames between the two thresholds in section 3 and 4. Create a bar mark with the option:
Variable bars. Generate a bar schedule.

Exercise 20: Draw a HA12 frame in the Sections 5 and 6.Create an average length bar with
the variable bars command. Regenerate the bar schedule.
Exercise 21: Stretch one of the variable frames (with the commands: _stretch and S), and
regenerate the bar schedule. What do you notice?

Exercise 22: On the plan view 1: Type RET to be in line with the figure.

Draw a figurative bar with the option Layers of variable lengths clicked.

Generate a bar schedule.

Edit the bar mark and modify the spacing. What do you see?

Modify the thresholds. Is there an update?

Double click on the dim line to highlight the bar distribution.

Exercise 23: Repeat the Exercise 22 with the plan view 2 (Choose the rake option for the bar
mark).

Modify the diameter of the full size bar. What do you see?

Stretch the left-hand side of the plan view. What do you see?

Generate a bar schedule.

Exercise 24: On the plan view 3, repeat the exercise 22. Be careful, the dim line must be
anticlockwise.

Application III: SEARCH

Exercise 25: Search all the occurrences of a bar mark. Use the 4 Armacad research modes:

Pop-up menu/ Go to/ Associated bar

Search

Bar mark control

Bar schedule

Application IV: BAR MARKS CONTROL

Exercise 26: Open the bar mark control panel. Go to a given bar and modify its diameter.

Exercise 27: Modify the sketch: Click once on the sketch picture and generate a new bar
schedule.

Exercise 28: Click twice on the sketch picture and enter a text. Generate a new bar schedule.

Exercise 29: Shift a bar mark number. Switch two bar marks numbers. Modify the numbering.

Exercise 30: Save all the bar marks in revision A.

Exercise 31: In events, save all the bars in revision 0. Stretch a bar, add a new bar and erase
one of the bar marks. Open events again.

Exercise 32: In options/project, change the format of the bar mark. Erase the bar mark and
create a new one.

Exercise 33: Add a section

Exercise 34: In option/project, change the bar type to H. Use the Toolbox to update the existing
bar marks.

Application V: ARMACAD SETTINGS

exercise, remember to save again the original options.
Exercise 35:

Create a directory called Armacad_training in your C: drive.

Paste the Armacad.CFG file there.

Open the Cadf_05


Armacad_training.

Add a new style. Change the color.

In Option/User, use the browser to reach the Armacad.CFG file which is saved in the
Armacad_training directory.

Update all the Armacad symbols of your drawing with the Toolbox.

Exercise 36: Open Cadf_50 and save it in the Armacad_training directory. Now modify it (You
can change the language, delete the columns that you dont want, change sizes).
