Desktop Organizer

Introduction
For this project, I designed a desk top organizer. The desk top organizer could
be, at most, 6 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and 6 inches long. The size parameters were
put in place so the desk top organizer would be able to be 3D printed. It also needed to
have at least four different sections for holding utensils and be able to hold 100 note
cards. To design an appropriate organizer, I researched different designs and made 3
thumbnail sketches. Afterwards, I started making a design based off of one of the
thumbnail sketches. Some of the ideas from the thumbnail sketch were helpful, but
some of the ideas were unrealistic. After going over my research and amending my
original design, I came up with a final product and made the orthographics.

Conclusion
In conclusion, this was an interesting project, which helped me learn a little about
manufacturing. I had to design the desk top organizer to meet the requirements of the
challenge, but I also had to make a product that was realistic enough to be
manufactured. I decided that creating an assembly would make the desk top organizer
easier to be manufactured. I also had to modify the original design to make it more
realistic. In the end, I learned more about what type of designs are easier to design,
dimension, and to manufacture.
