SECTION 1: Findings
Congress makes the following findings:
1) Energy incentives account for less than 2% of federal spending and
tax breaks ($47 billion)
2) The US government spends $290-610 billion on energy annually (the
large range is due to different views on what constitutes as energy)
3) Solar panels usually pay for themselves after six years
SECTION 2: Purpose
The purpose of this bill is to increase tax incentives for installing solar panels on
private property
SECTION 3: General Provisions
The US government should increase tax incentives for installing solar panels on
private property such as homes and increase awareness on renewable energy.
The 2% of the budget currently spent on energy incentives should be increased
to 3.5%, persuading more homeowners to transfer to using clean, renewable
energy and become more self-sustaining energy wise. The tax breaks will pay for
themselves over time as the $290-610 billion the US government spends on
energy currently would decrease as homeowners begin relying on their own solar
panels for energy rather than on energy produced at power-plants.
SECTION 4: Definitions
Renewable energy: energy that is collected from naturally replenishing

resources
