Learning Objectives
Given a pizza outline and
different shapes, the children
will glue on "pizza toppings"
and count how many they
have of each.

Motivation/Introduction:
Come with me, it's time to make a shape pizza!

Materials Required
-worksheet
-atleast 125 small green
squares
-125 yellow rectangles
-125 red circles
-125 small pink triangles
-25 big brown circles
-25 tan medium circles
-pencils
-glue
-zip loc bags

Procedure:
1) I will create a worksheet that allows the students to fill in how many of each shape they have
on their pizzza.
2) I will use a stencil and cut out 25 large brown circles.
3) I will use a stencil and cut out 25 tan circles, slightly smaller than the brown circles.
4) I will then glue together each yellow and brown circle. This will be their pizza.
5) Then, I will cut out 125 small green squares, 125 small pink triangles, 125 small yellow
rectangle, and 125 small red circles. I will do this using die-cuts.
6) I will separate 5 of each shape into small bags so it's ready to go.
7) Next, I will get a group of 5-7 kids to come do the activity.
8) The first thing they will do is write their name on the back of the pizza, and at the top of their
worksheet.
9) I will then let them decide how many of each topping (shape) they want on their pizza. (No
more than 5, because there is only 5 of each in a bag.)
10) Once they have the toppings they want, they will begin counting.
11) I will instruct them to count how many red circles they have.
12) They will write how many red circles they have on the line next to the circle on their
worksheet.
13) They will do steps 11-12 until they count how many they have of all four shapes, and until
their worksheet is filled in.
14) I will put the pizzas on the drying rack to be sent home with the worksheets the following
day.
