Land Acquisitions in the Early 1800s

1. Add your name and class period to the upper right corner of the
map
2. Write the title at the top of the map: Land Acquisitions in the Early
1800s
3. Draw a compass rose on the map, preferably on the lower right or
left corner
4. Label all of the states east of the Mississippi River with postal
abbreviations (TX for Texas). You can use your planner to help you with
this.
5. Label the Mississippi River by coloring it blue and writing the name
along the river
6. Label the following territorial expansions with their dates:
1787 Northwest Territory
1803 Louisiana Purchase
1818 British Cession
1819 Spanish Cession
7. Color each expansion a different color. DO NOT use blue. Blue is
for water only. Example: Texas Annexation is pink, Spanish Cession is
purple.
