Q. Proven and Potential Reserves of oil and Gas in Pakistan?

History:
In1880, first exploratory was drilled is near in kundal near to the Punjab .After the discovery of
this first exploratory our next discovery is in 1910.which is the discovery of first oil in
khaur.After these there are large number of discoveries of exploratory and well are obtained.
Now there are 650 exploratory wells are drilled in Pakistan and 185 oil and gas well are
discovered in Pakistan.

Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. (OGDCL)

This plant incorporated on march 4, 1961.and this is the national oil and gas company of
pakistan.And this plant is operating in many fields all over the Pakistan. Some of them are
Qadirpur, Pirkoh, Sadkal, Dhokak, Kunnar, Tando Alam and Panjpir.
Oil production in this company is 41,397 bbl/d and Gas production in this plant is 904 MMcf/d.

Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (PPL)

Pakistan Petroleum Company was founded on June 5, 1950.and it has discovered the largest sui
gas reservoir at Sui in 1952.and it is the largest discovery of Pakistan. And there are many fields
on which Pakistan petroleum company are working. And the main fields of PPL includes Sui,
Adhi, Kandhkot,and Mazarani.
Oil production in Pakistan Petroleum Company(PPL) is 5060 bbl/d and Gas production is 830
MMcf/d.
Pakistan Oil fields Ltd (POL):
Pakistan oil fields was founded on Nov,25, 1950.and it took over Attock oil company in 1978
and business with them.it has discovered oil at Karsal in 1960 and at Meyal in 1968.and it is
working in many production fields and presently operating on 9 development and production
fields including Pariwali, Joyamari, Minwal, Khaur, Pindori, Turkwal and Balkassar.
Oil production in this company is 6,333 bbl/d and Gas production is 35 MMcf/d.
Mari Gas Company Limited (MGCL):
In 1957 the company started operating as Esso Eastern Inc, and the Mari Gas field was
discovered in Daharki,Sindh Pakistan.The Gas in place is 10.53 TCF. Initial gas reserve estimate
of 3 TCF which were enhanced to 6.8 TCF thus making Mari the country's 2nd largest gas
field.in 1953-1984, fauji foundation aquired the entire business peration of Esso Eastern Inc. in
Pakistan and was reorganized and incorporated as Mari gas Company Limited (MGCL).
Gas production in this plant is 3.5 TCF/d.
