Chi Omega at the University of Rhode Island is holding fundraising events during their Philanthropy Week from October 11-14 to grant wishes for children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In past years they have granted at least two wishes and last year granted three wishes, including sending a 6-year-old boy with cystic fibrosis to Walt Disney World. This year they hope to grant even more wishes by selling doughnuts, henna tattoos, and psychic readings. Their goal is to make the dreams of four additional children come true.

For Immediate Release Oct. 11, 2016 URIs Chi Omega makes wishes come true Chi Omegas anticipation is at an all-time high. The fall weather is finally starting to settle in, pumpkin spice is back, and it is Philanthropy Week again. During Philanthropy Week, which runs from October 11-14, each sorority and fraternity raises money for its national philanthropy through fun and innovative means. The Lambda Beta chapter of Chi Omega, located at URI, is eager to raise money for the Massachusetts/Rhode Island chapter of Make-A-Wish this week. In past years, URIs Chi Omega granted at least two wishes to children through its fundraising. Last year, Chi Omega granted three wishes and will be trying to grant more this year. Last year, one of the wishes Chi Omega granted was to Dylan. Dylan was a 6-year-old with cystic fibrosis with the wish to go to Walt Disney World. After returning from Disney with his sister and parents, he described all of the rides and characters he met with the sisters of Chi Omega. I was a real pirate for a day. I battled with Jack Sparrow and felt like a king. Dylan said. In past years Chi Omega has raised money for Make-A-Wish through raffles and hosting carnival games on the quad. This year, Chi Omega intends to reach its goal by selling Allies doughnuts, giving Henna tattoos and offering a reading by a psychic. As the event organizer and Chi Omega sister, there is nothing more satisfying than to grant wishes. I love my philanthropy, Racassi says. With any luck, Chi Omega will make four more dreams come true this year. ### Contact: Kimberly Ruiz Kimberly_ruiz@my.uri.edu (718) 836-5123
