Annex
I. Sectional Properties of Sections and Girders

1.

Sectional moduli of Sections

The section moduli of frames, beams stiffeners and other

parts made of sections as given in the Rules are valid for
sections in conjunction with plating to which they are
welded. For the determination of the required sections the
following Tables can be applied for moduli from 5 to
2350 cm3 without having to determine especially the
effective width of plating.
The sections moduli of the sections are to be applied only
in connection with these Rules. The section moduli given
are based on the assumption of an effective width of plating
of 40 @ tw (tw = web thickness of the section).
The given scantlings of the sections are valid only for angles
according to DIN 1028 and 1029, bulb angles according
to DIN 1020, bulb plates according to DIN 1019. Where

sections are being used differ from those standards the

exact dimension and moduli of these sections are to be
submitted.
2.

Scantlings of brackets

The scantlings of brackets given on pages A-2 through A-11

apply for the case that both brackets and attached sections
are made of ordinary hull structural steel.
3.

Sectional properties of built girders

The moment of inertia and section moduli of transverses,

girders etc., determine according to the Rules, may be
derived from the graphs on pages A-12 and A-13 of this
Annex.

II. Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia Freeboard Markings

On application, Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI) calculate

freeboards in accordance with the Regulations of the Load
Line Convention 1966 and with any existing relevant special
national regulations, and subsequently issue the necessary
Load Line Certificates wherever authorized to do so by
the competent Authorities of the individual States.

They shall be permanently attached on both sides of the

ship.

Applications for issuance of Load Line Certificates or for

surveys of freeboard admeasurements are to be made to
either BKI Head Office, Jakarta, or the Surveyors.

Ships of over 100 m length do not get a WNA marking.

For these ships WNA is equal to W and the LWNA marking
is affixed at the same level as the W-mark.

Freeboards are then calculated and based on survey Reports

and admeasurements Certificates are to be issued.

For ships the keels of which were laid prior to 21st July,
1968, the conditions for assignment of the freeboard subject
to the Load Line Convention 1930 continue to be valid
as a part of the LLC 66. Where the advantages of the
LLC 66 are intended to be utilized, the respective ships
are to comply with all requirements of that Convention as
for a new ship.

The load lines assigned by BKI are marked amidships in

accordance with the Freeboard Marking as per sketches
on page A-l5 which is drawn for the starboard side. Where
no other marking is stipulated by national regulations of
the respective foreign Authorities, there will be added the
letters KI. The ring, lines and letters are to be painted white
or yellow on a dark ground, or else, black on a light ground.

With ships having a restricted service range, depending

on the respective range, the seasonal markings, such as
for Winter North Atlantic trade, are omitted.
