Alongside our standard selection of precision balls, Spheric Trafalgar can supply a wide range of specially
manufactured products that meet the requirements of demanding engineers across all sectors of industry. So if you
need
Bespoke Products
As well as producing these precision products in standard formats. we can also make bespoke versions. So if you
need something out of of the ordinary, just supply us with the relevant drawings and leave the rest to the team here
at Spheric Trafalgar. Any special products which we supply which come with a UKAS Certificate of Calibration, lists
the measured results relevant to the ball diameter and roundness; these are fully traceable to the relevant National
and International Standards.
Alongside our standard range of special products, Spheric Trafalgar also manufactures modified balls to suit pretty
much any purpose. If you need balls with holes, with flats, with cylindrical parts or any combination of these and
other features, just get in touch with our friendly sales staff and we'll be happy to sort you out.

Reference Ball with Wire & ID Tag
Spheric-Trafalgar Tungsten Carbide Reference Balls are spark-eroded to accommodate a 0.5mm diameter stainless
steel nyloncoated wire to which is attached an ID tag showing nominal size and a serial number. The tag provides a
unique means of identifying the ball, increasingly a requirement of quality and calibration systems, with minimal
effect on the usability of the ball.

Standard Fixtures
Standard Fixtures are manufactured from 303 stainless steel. They can be supplied with a Magnetic Base or
Mounting Fixture if preferred.
Providing a simple and effective solution to the problem of mounting reference balls for plane measurement. The
reference ball may be mounted in any of the positions shown and the unit can be supplied with a mounting stud
(with choice of thread) or magnetic base to suit your needs. Standard dimensions are displayed below. The height to
the centre of the adapter block is normally 150mm or 6 inches is determined by the ball size but again these
dimensions can be changed as required.

Ball Plug Gauges have many advantages over conventional Plug Gauges.
• They are quick and easy to use because they can be inserted at any angle.
• Due to the very small contact area of the ball, very good "feel" is imparted to the inspector and any
roughness is easily detected.
• They are very effective in detecting any bell mouthing or taper in the hole.
• Tungsten Carbide Balls offer rugged resistance to impact, wear, temperature, humididty and corrosion.
• Our standard tolerances are +2.0µm (0.00008") on the "Go" end and -2.0µm (0.00008") on the "No Go" end.
However tighter tolerances are available at extra cost.
• The Spheric-Trafalgar UKAS Laboratory can supply full Certification.
• Handles can be engraved to your own requirements listing Part Numbers etc.
• All stems are made from high quality stainless steel.
Construction Details
For ball sizes 5/32" (4mm) and above, the stem is inserted into a hole spark eroded into the ball and fixed using a
specially developed Spheric-Trafalgar adhesive. Below 5/32" (4mm), the balls are brazed to the stems.
