Our Vision
To challenge and encourage everyone in our
congregation to know and follow Christ by:
Growing as disciples through Christs
teachings
Connecting with one another in Christian
community
Serving Christ by serving others
Praising God as we worship Christ
Pastors Corner
Our church-wide study winds down this coming Sunday, October 30. Weve had large
numbers of people who have signed up and attended the various sessions. Some have
been at the church on Sunday mornings, while others have been in homes and even pizza
parlors during the week. I hope youve enjoyed the classes if youve been involved and have
discovered more about your areas of giftedness. This Sunday, I will wrap up my Serving
from the Heart sermon series, and next Sunday well celebrate the saints of our church who
have gone home to be with the Lord in the past year.
Also on November 6, during a break in our Sunday morning discipleship schedule, we will
celebrate our gifts in preparation for Commitment Sunday on November 13. November 6 is a Communion
Sunday, when we celebrate the gift of sacrifice offered to us by our Savior, Jesus Christ. During the
discipleship hour, our Discipleship Team will share with us a visual representation of all the spiritual gifts of our
congregation who has been a part of our study. In addition, the children of our church will help prepare the
elements of our Holy Communion and learn more about Jesus sacrifice for us. On November 13, we will begin
new studies, and thats also the day when people in both worship services will come forward and present their
commitment cards.
Concerns have been raised with me lately about the length of announcements in both worship services but
especially the 10:45 am Sunday service. I am declaring announcement free worship on October 30 to remind
us that the main function of worship isworship! Worship of the God who created us, not worship of all the
things that we create on a weekly basis. Please let me know what you think of announcement-free worship.
When we begin our new discipleship cycle on November 13, I will be offering a new members class which will
run for five consecutive Sundays. I am reaching out to all those who have expressed interest in becoming

But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what
comes from your hand.
1 Chronicles 29:14
When I was growing up, we had an old water pump over the well
on our back porch and it never worked until you primed it with some
water. So today I would like us to prime our pumps with some spiritual water to
get that living water flowing in us. In this weeks scripture Paul writes to his good
friend Timothy about how Christians can grow in their faith: All Scripture is Godbreathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every
good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Paul reminds Timothy of the consistency and
importance of the Scriptures. I believe Timothy already knew this, as do we, but
we all need to regularly prime the pumps of our hearts so we can continue to
grow in our faith.
Each of us needs to consider the question of how we see scripture. Have we
found the Bible gives us the faith foundation we need to meet the challenges of
life? Or do we still struggle with what we believe, or how scripture can inspire
and empower us?
There was a man who got lost in the desert. After wandering around for a
long time he became parched with thirst. Just then he saw a little shack in the
distance. He made his way there and found a water pump with a small jug of
water and a note. The note read: Pour all the water into the top of the pump to
prime it; if you do this you will get all the water you need. Then please refill the
jug for the next traveler.
Now the man had a choice to make. If he trusted the note, poured the water
in and it worked, he would live. If not, he would probably die. Or if he chose to
drink the water in the jug it would satiate his immediate thirst, but would not
correct his dehydration and he would probably die. After thinking about it the

man decided to risk priming the pump. He poured in the entire jug and began
to work the handle. At first nothing happened and he was afraid, but he kept
going and soon water started coming out. So much water, in fact, that he drank
his fill, bathed, and refilled the jug. He then added to the note: Please prime
the pump, believe me it works! [Source Unknown]
We have the same choice to make. Do we hold on to what we have and go
it alone? Or do we trust in Gods Word and embrace all that God has promised
us? When we dig into the scriptures I believe the choice is obvious. We need
to let go and trust God in all things. Then once we have experienced the Living
Water, we need to tell others: Read the Bible; prime the pump, for believe me,
it works!
So my friends be encouraged and read on.
