Oxford Film Festival Short Film Guide

The document outlines the requirements for submitting a short film to the Oxford Film Festival. It specifies that submissions must be original works between 20-30 minutes in length and suitable for PG audiences. It also notes that extensive pre-production work, including research, scripting, storyboarding, and location approval, must be completed by November 22nd to allow enough time for filming and editing. Selection of a winner will consider the film's mise-en-scene, so applicants must pay close attention to details visible and audible to the audience. All work must be finished and uploaded by December 9th.

BRIEF ANALYSIS & UNDERSTANDING

ABOVE I HAVE HIGHLIGHTED THE KEY CONCEPTS OF THE OXFORD FILM FESTIVAL
BRIEF. IN THE FIRST SEGMENT OF THE BRIEF IT IS CLEARLY POINTED TO THAT THE
MAIN CONCEPT OF THE FILM OR ANIMATION IS BUILT OFF A COMPLETELY
ORIGINAL IDEA AND NOT BASED OFF AN EXISTING PRODUCTION. THE OPTIONS
GIVEN IS TO DO A STOP MOTION OR A SHORT FILM AND MY CHOSEN CHOICE IS A
SHORT FILM. THIS FILM WILL HAVE TO BE 20-30 MINUTES AND KEPT ESSENTIALLY
PG RATED AS NO DRUG USE OR BAD LANGUAGE CAN BE USED.
IN THE SECOND SEGMENT OF THE BRIEF, ALL THE PREPRODUCTION
DOCUMENTATION IS LISTED. IT STATES THAT ALL THE WORK BULLET POINTED
BELOW MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE I START THE FILMING. ALL MY
PREPRODUCTION, WHICH INCLUDES THE RESEARCH, SCRIPT, STORYBOARD,
LOCATION RECCES AND CLEARANCES, SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY THE 22 ND OF
NOVEMBER SO I HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO FILM AND EDIT.
THE LAST IMPORTANT FACTOR THAT IS HIGHLIGHTED IS THAT THE MISE-ENSCENE IS CAREFULLY LOOKED AT BY THE FILM FESTIVAL IN ORDER TO DECIDE A
WINNER. THIS MEANS I HAVE TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE MINOR DETAILS

IN WHAT THE AUDIENCE SEE AND HEAR IN ORDER TO PRODUCE A HIGH QUALITY
PIECE.
ALL MY PREPRODUCTION, EDITING AND FINAL PRODUCTION SHOULD ALL BE
FINISHED AND UPLOADED BY THE 9TH OF DECEMBER.
