Describe the components of a biosphere
Identify biotic and abiotic factors in an ecosystem
Understand organism adaptations and explain how they
help animals and plants to survive
Understand that living organisms can be linked together
based on feeding relationships and can name those
relationships
Interpret organism feeding relationships represented as a
food chain or web
Understand how food chains can be combined to create a
food web that describes the feeding relationships in an
ecosystem
Use information of feeding relationships to construct food
chains and webs
Identify trophic levels in food pyramids and understand that
the number of organisms in each trophic level decreases as
the level increases
Understand what a sustainable ecosystem is and how
humans have impacted ecosystems.
Organising organisms
Use a dichotomous key to classify organisms by following a
sequence of steps to identify organisms based on physical
characteristics
Construct branching and written dichotomous keys for a
range of given organisms/ objects
Understand the levels of classification and be able to sort
living things into related groups (Kingdom, phylum etc.)
