Dramatic Devices/TessitureCliffords intro is extremely well pronounced. He comes in killing it. He plays a few really
quick lines, which adds to the moment. Something I really enjoyed about his solo was the
two five licks moving to the four chord and moving to the two chord. I wish the solo was
a bit longer but he definitely puts everything he needs in it.
Scale Preferences/Prevailing Scale PatternsMostly Blues scale stuff and diatonic movement through two fives. He uses the #11, or
the bluesiest note of the blues scale imo, in bar 18. It really adds to that pull in the
resolution down to the 3rd of the 4 chord in bar 19.
Recurrent Patterns/LicksI dont really notice him repeating himself too much in this solo. It is pretty short so he
didnt have much time to anyway. He does utilize the #11 of the Eb blues scale several
times within the piece though.
