Modal verbs

Modal auxiliary verbs are different from normal verbs:


-They are ALWAYS followed by the infinitive.
-They express obligation, ability...
-They make the interrogative and the negative by themselves.
-They cant be used in every tense.
-They havent got the S in the 3rd person.

Types

-CAN/CANT: it is used for permission and ability. It is translated as poder,


saber.
Could is the past simple of can.
Examples

-MUST/MUSTNT: it is used for obligation or prohibition. It is translated as


deber.
Examples

-SHOULD/SHOULDNT: it is used for advice. It is translated as debera.
