A. The definition of narrative text
Narrative text is a story with complication or problematic events and it tries to find
the resolutions to solve the problems. An important part of narrative text is the
narrative mode, the set of methods used to communicate the narrative through a
process narration.
B. The purpose of narrative text
The Purpose of Narrative Text is to amuse or to entertain the reader with a story.
C.Generic Structure of Narrative Text
1) Orientation
Sets the scene: where and when the story happened and introduces the participants of
the
story:
who
and
what
is
involved
in
the
story.
2) Complication
Tells the beginning of the problems which leads to the crisis (climax) of the main
participants.
3) Resolution
The problem (the crisis) is resolved, either in a happy ending or in a sad (tragic)
ending
4) Re-orientation/Coda
This is a closing remark to the story and it is optional. It consists of a moral
lesson, advice or teaching from the writer

D. Example of Narrative Text

The Ugly Duckling
One upon time, a mother duck sat on her eggs. She felt
tired of sitting on them. She just wished the eggs would
break out.
Several days later, she got her wish. The eggs cracked
and some cute little ducklings appeared. "Peep, peep"
the little ducklings cried. "Quack, quack" their mother greeted in return.
However the largest egg had not cracked. The mother duck sat on it for several days.
Finally, it cracked and a huge ugly duckling waddled out. The mother duck looked at
him in surprise. He was so big and very gray. He didn't look like the others at all. He
was like a turkey.
The mother duck brought the children to the pond for their first swimming lesson.,
the huge grey duckling splashed and paddled about just as nicely as the other
ducklings did. "That is not a turkey chick. He is my very own son and quite
handsome" the mother said proudly.
However, the other animals didn't agree. They hissed and made fun of him day by
day. Even his own sisters and brothers were very unkind. "You are very ugly" they
quacked.
The little poor duckling was very unhappy. "I wish I looked like them" he thought to
himself. One day, the ugly duckling run away and hid in the bushes. The sad
duckling lived alone through the cold and snow winter. Finally the spring flowers
began to bloom. While he was swimming in the pond, he saw three large white
swans swimming toward him. "Oh, dear. these beautiful birds will laugh and peck
me too" he said to himself. But the swans did not attack him. Instead, they swam
around him and stroked him with their bills. As the ugly duckling bent his neck to
speak to them, he saw his reflection in the water. He could not believe his eyes. "I am
not an ugly duckling but a beautiful swam" he exclaimed.
He was very happy. From that day on, he swam and played with his new friends and
was happier than he had never been.

Descriptive Text Material

Definition of Descriptive Text
Descriptive text is a kind of text which describes particular thing, animal, person, or
others, for instance: our pets or a person that is known well (Wardiman, 2008: 122).
2. Social Function of Descriptive Text
The specific function of descriptive text is to give description about an object
(human or non-human) (Pardiono, 2007: 34).
3. The Generic Structure of Descriptive Text
Generic structure are the special characteristic of language in the text. The generic
structure of descriptive text are as follow:
a .Identification
It is part of paragraph which introduces or identifies the character to be described. It
can be called general description of the subject. Usually it contains objects name,
kind of the object, etc.
b. Description
It is part of paragraph which describes parts and characteristics of the person or
something that will be described in detail, so the readers can get clear description of
the subject.
4. The Language Features of Descriptive Text
According to Wardiman (2008: 122) the language features of descriptive text are as
follow
a. Focus on one specific object
b. The Use of Simple Present Tense

I have to tell you about my mother. Her name is Dini

Septiyanti. She is uncommonly dazzling anyway she is not
tall. She has chestnut and light skin.
Her eyes shading is cocoa. Her eyes are shocking and
astonishing. I genuinely love her eyes. She is a greatly kind
person. She is energetic. She reveres to interest and divert her
adolescents when her children were aggravated.
She for the most part rouses me to understand various
things and research the data with experience. She is patient
and great woman I have ever known.

Announcement
Definition: announcement is a text of meaningful notice of facts, events, or
intentions.
Generic structure:

Title or type of event: tell the purpose of event in announcement.

Date and place: tell the place or date of announcement.

Who to contact: tell who to contact for more information.
specific text:

Including permission or giving a sorry.
Using present future or past tense.
3.
Using to inform people.
Purpose: the purpose of announcement is to information us what has happened or
what will happen.
Example:

Announcement for patient
Attention patient our clinic drug store must close for a few time because there is will
be renovated for your pleasure and comfortable.
Date and place
For this problem we must close that from february 22 th 2013 until february 27th 2013
and for drug recipe it will take on you and give that to other nearest drug store.

For more information talk to your doctor check his or her out of duty thank you for

Indonesia is a rich country of animals and plants. These are the example of animals
and plants Indonesias has:

ROSE = BUNGA MAWAR

LILY FLOWER = BUNGA TERTAI

JASMINE = MELATI

From all duty I have done, It can be conclude that this is very helpful and
important in the English language. Because in it can teach us for differentiate
narrative text and descriptive text which can also be use for the race, such as: The
race of the story telling, and others also. There is a lot we need to know to speak
English including how to make a right announcement, and this duty will teach us
how to make announcement, and also equipped with example announcement, which
will easier for us to learn all of them.

Other than that, in this duty we can know about animals in the country and in
the other country, and equipped with Indonesian will be easier for us to learn all of
them.

This is my conclusion about this duty, please forgive me, if I do mistake in the
process, that is all and thank you.

My suggestion to my Friend is do your assignment (homework) on

time. So that you can do it with calm. And make it as good as
possible can you do.

Elisabet Pepayosa Ginting was born on 10th February 2004 in Medan. She is the
first child of three children from A.Ginting and R. Br.Sembiring. Elisabet has two
sisters, they are Nathalia and Mikha. Elisabet is a Junior High School student in
Methodist Lubuk Pakam.
Elisabet completed her elementary education in Lubuk Pakam. Elisabet has
a hobby, her hobby is swimming. Beside that she got rank in her class every
semester. She is smart student in Methodist.
She live in Jalan Sudirman number 10. Her fathers job is police.And her
mother is house wife. Her sister, Natalia is 5 grade of elementary high school. And
Mikha is Kindergarden student.
