Analysis on Itinatwa ni Pedro si Hesus

This poem taken from the Passion of Christ is simply a message form Jesus to the people. No
matter how many times a person betrays him and commits sins, as long as that person sincerely asks
forgiveness from him, Jesus is always ready to forgive.
Peter was one of the twelve disciples most closely connected with Jesus. His denials were made
in the time he was accused that he was with Jesus. His denials were actually based on weakness, the
weakness that is innate of human frailty. He stumbled in fear in which he was afraid that Jesus would die
and that he was fearful of his own life as well. He realized that he wasnt nearly as brave and courageous
as he had described, and in fear he denied Jesus, the one who had loved him. He cried and wept bitterly
when he saw his sins, that is he was truly remorseful. He was really regretful that he committed
everything to Jesus, why he denied his very own master and loving friend. From the last two verses in this
poem, it seems that the writer is now asking Peter, What will happen to you now? Would you still have
the courage to look him straightly in the eyes despite these sins of yours? Hes also telling Peter to start
making an action that he must change and immediately seek for forgiveness form Jesus.
Despite this sinful mistake of Peter, his service to Jesus did not stop. The incident taught him
the significance of praying and watching which is used today to teach modern-day believers. In addition,
this also teaches us a lesson that we must be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil but
instead repay it with blessing and kindness. Learn how to forgive others for even the Lord knows how to
forgive.
