Lesson
Summary:
Student will partner up in groups of 3 and each group will have their own
station. They will have cut out images of the alphabet and pictures of
images that start with the the letter. The names will be on the images and
they will match them with the letter is starts with. I will create a slide show
using my laptop that shows each letter and the images that match the letter.
The letters and images will be showed at random and not in order. Each
station will have an iPad and they will each take turns using it to switch
slides. They can move on to the next letter by going to the next slide. For
every letter we get thorough I will eliminate the images that they should
have used to match to the correct letter. Every time we get through a letter I
will go onto the next slide using my powerpoint remote. The slide show will
be made using powerpoint and I will connect it to a Smartboard.
Estimated
Duration:
This lesson will go on for 3 days and it will take 40 minutes for each day. We
will start with letters A-I on day 1, J-R on day 2, and S-Z on day 3.
Instructional Procedures:
First 10 minutes: I will take attendance. We will start at the carpet and sing along to songs playing
from speakers about the alphabet that weve been singing all year. I will put one iPad at each
station. I will begin setting up the Smartboard and connect it to my laptop. I
Day 1: 50 Minutes
Students will already be familiar with the alphabet. I will then split the students up in their groups
and begin to explain what we will be doing. I will tell them that this is a matching game and Ill
need them to pay attention as I go through the directions. There will be 4 stations facing away
from each other so students aren't looking at other students work. There will be 4 magnet boards.
The letters and the images will be scattered on a table and students will have to identify each
letter and match them to the correct image. We will start with letter A-I and we will not move on
until everyone has finished. Before we begin a letter, students will look up at the Smart Board and
read the letter out loud. I will use be presentation clicker to go through each slide. Once we get
through the first set of the letters we will all corrects each other as a class. I will not give the
students the answers as they will work together with the classmates to solve them.
Day 2: 30 Minutes
We will now go through letters J-R a Students will do the same as what they did on Day 1.
Day 3: 30 Minutes
We will be on the last set of letters which is S-Z. After we complete the lesson we will have a
discussion about it and I will ask for their feedback on if they enjoyed or didn't enjoy the lesson.
We will them clean up.
