Dr. Mark Lavallee: Summer and Winter 2014, Summer 2015
I shadowed Dr. Lavallee at Wellspan Orthopedics and the Thomas Hart Family Practice
Center, an affordable family practice.

Altoona Family Physicians Internship: Winter 2015
At the Altoona Family Physicians practice, I shadowed many of the residents on the
practices team for a total of 240 hours.

Undergraduate Research
Lizard Gut Microbiome Project: Spring 2015 to Present
I work in Drs. Regina Lamendella and John Matters labs to analyze the gut microbial
community structure of the Eastern Fence Lizard. I will be publishing a manuscript by
Spring 2017 which pioneers an untouched area comparing gut microbial community
structures across age groups.
Microbial Ecology Lab Internship: Summer 2016
In the Lamendella lab, I helped with many different projects in microbial ecology,
acquired molecular techniques such as PCR, DNA extraction, as well as developed
bioinformatics skills.

Volunteering

158 Hours of Volunteer Experience: 2014 to 2016
My volunteering ranges from working flu shot drives and Relay for Life, to helping run
a Juniata College freshmen immersion retreat as well as international mountain biking
festivals.

Employment

College Writing Seminar Lab Leader: Fall 2015
I met with a group of about seventeen first year students each week to help smooth
their matriculation into the Juniata College community through facilitating group
discussion on diversity and other difficult social topics.
College Writing Seminar Juniata Associate: Fall 2016 to Present
As the Juniata Associate, I have professional responsibilities, including facilitating lab
leader meetings, planning the lab curriculum, and conducting lab leader interviews.
