Instructions

Below on this sheet are empty frequency distributions for the variables of both Height and Pairs of
frequency distributions for each variable are set with a number of classes and the lower class limit
class (do NOT change these numbers). For example, for the variable Height, the keep the number
and the low class limit for the first class at 60. Complete the following steps for each histogram:

1. For both Height and Pairs of Shoes, determine the class width and then enter it in the appropria
colored cell. Then, in the frequency distribution table, in the yellow colored cells, enter the lower cl
upper class limits, and the frequency.
! ! ! ! Important: Enter text or numbers or otherwise adjust ONLY the yellow colored

2. This file is set so the histograms are created as you enter the data in the yellow-shaded cells. M
improvements to the format of the histograms.

3. Describe shapes of the histograms. Are the shapes what you expect, given the context of the d
your answer in the box below. Also, how might you improve the Pair of Shoes histogram?

First, they are not histograms, they are bar charts. Histograms start with the highest and decrease as they go to the r
real shapes too these graphs. They're up, they're down. However, looking at the raw data, it appears that women ha
than men, with only a couple of exceptions. Hmmmm.... Interesting.

The shoes bar chart would be greatly improved by having fewer classes. Increasing the class width to five would brin
classes down to a more readable level. Same with the bicycle pie chart. Having an "Other" category to pull together
make it more readable as well.
