Creating a Multiple Choice Assessment Item in Performance Matters (6 steps in this Lesson)
1. After logging into the platform Performance Matters from your school website, click NEW
Item in the top right hand corner, then an editing panel will appear.
2. Select the Choice/Multi-Response button. The interaction block will be added to the editing
pane.

3. Enter the interaction prompt or stem (question) in the

text box provided.
4. Click in the text entry box under Answer Choices to
enter an answer choice (A).
All answers will be labeled as wrong. Click on the label to
change an answer to correct (B).

5. Save the item by clicking the Save Item button.

6. If you have completely finished working with the item,

click the Submit button to finalize it and make it available for use on formative assessments.
Important Tip: To locate this item later in Lesson 5 when you are adding to an assessment, write
down the six digit item number when it appears after you hit the submit button. It will appear to
the left of the button.
