Student Work:
Students will participate in a Socratic Seminar, discussing
the novel, Things Fall Apart.
There will be two groups: first group discusses verbally by
reading their questions and responding. Then second group uses
Twitter and the hashtag to either record or comment on the
discussion in the inner circle. Students can use Twitter to record
what they hear and to add to the discussion.

Then, students will switch places (inner/outer circle) and roles

and continue the Seminar.
End of Class Activity or Follow-up Activity
for next day:
Students will use Pinterest to categorize the
tweets from the discussion by pairing the
comments with the students questions. In
groups, they will create a Board with the initial
question and then add the hash-tagged
comments from the Socratic Seminar to the
appropriate board.

NOTE: Each of the three apps used in this lesson are apps that the students have used previously
in class for various activities. The apps were introduced one at a time in other lessons so students
would know how to use them appropriately and would know the procedures and conduct
required when using them in class. Because this activity requires the use of three apps for one
lesson, it is important that the students have prior experience with each app.
