Humber College
WRIT 200

To: John D. McLean

From: Jackson Rozario

Date: November 23 rd 2016
Subject: Proposal
Proposal Assignment*
Purpose/Problem: To discover whether or not telecommuting is
more productive in the workplace. Due to the cost of offi ce space
and labor these days many companies are moving to telecommuting.
Despite the benefi ts of cost cutting and offi ce space; will forcing
workers to telecommute make them more productive.
Feasibility: Due to the abundant amount of research, I believe that
a solution will be brought forth. Although the solution will be found I
believe it will be half and half in that telecommuting will work for
some but not others.
Audience: John McLean, executives of companies that would want
to implement this type of workplace, the employees of the
companies, and employees that already telecommute.
Topics to Investigate:

Stats of businesses that have implemented telecommuting

successfully. I would want to investigate this to discover how
and what makes telecommuting better/more productive.

Specifi c types of people that telecommuting works for. I would

investigate this topic because telecommuting may work for
some but not others. Some people work better in an
environment without distractions whereas others need the

quiet offi ce space separated from their every day lives.

Types of jobs that telecommuting works for. Specifi c jobs may
require face to face collaboration, whereas others can be
perfectly executed without anyone but themselves.

Methods: I will fi nd the answers to these questions through the

Humber library. Specifi c studies and journals.

Qualifi cations: My team and I are qualifi ed to write on this topic

because we have spent weeks researching. We also have experience
in some way telecommuting in that a lot of our lectures and
assignments are online; so if we miss a day we are technically forced
to telecommute to school to catch up on missed work.
